The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, through its Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS), has once again graduated a new cohort of specialist doctors for the August 2026 period. The event was held at the FK UNS Auditorium on Thursday (August 27, 2026) and broadcast live via the FK UNS YouTube channel.

Attendees included the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); FK UNS vice deans; the Chair of the FK UNS Academic Senate, Prof. Ari Natalia Probandari, dr., M.P.H., Ph.D; the Head of the Education and Research Division at Dr. Moewardi Regional General Hospital, Dr. Sulistyani Kusumaningrum, dr., Sp.Rad., M.Sc; the Deputy Director of Education and Research at UNS Hospital, Prof. Dr. Diah Kurnia Mirawati, dr., Sp.S(K); the Education and Training Manager at RSO Soeharso, dr. Kshanti Adhitya, Sp.EM., MM; the Chair of the FK UNS Alumni Association, Dr. Muhammad Husen Prabowo, dr., MPH; and the various Heads of the FK UNS Specialist Doctor Education Programs (Prodi PPDS).

According to the academic report presented by the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs at FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Eti Poncorini Pamungkasari, dr., M.Pd, the faculty graduated 23 PPDS trainees. The breakdown is as follows: 9 from the Internal Medicine program, 6 from Obstetrics and Gynecology, 3 from Surgery, 2 from Clinical Pathology, 1 from Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, 1 from Neurology, and 1 from Cardiology and Vascular Medicine.

Among the graduates, Dr. Eka Budi Prasetya, Sp.P.D. (Internal Medicine Specialist Program) achieved the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.90. Meanwhile, the youngest graduate is Dr. Rani Luthfiany Putri, Sp.P.D. (Internal Medicine Specialist Program), who completed her specialist training at the age of 30 years and 8 months.

Dr. Muhammad Husen, Chairman of the UNS Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association, urged the graduates to uphold the values of professional camaraderie as they face future challenges and evolving dynamics.

“Earning a specialist degree does not mean walking alone. Therefore, maintain the tradition of camaraderie—supporting and respecting one another, whether junior or senior—and place patient safety and dignity above all else. The physician's oath you once took and professional ethics serve as your moral compass amidst the changing landscape of healthcare services,” he said.

He emphasized that the expertise gained during their education must be returned to society through meaningful contributions. “Khairunnas anfauhum linnas”—the best among people are those who benefit others. Your new degrees and expertise are a trust to be exercised for the benefit of all levels of society, and especially for the Indonesian nation. Carry the spirit of a UNS Faculty of Medicine alumnus with you: a spirit that is resilient, humanistic, and dedicated to the public good,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Dean of the UNS Faculty of Medicine (FK UNS), Prof. Reviono, noted that the challenges facing the healthcare sector are becoming increasingly diverse, making it essential to continuously expand one's knowledge.

"Every era brings its own challenges, and every challenge has a solution. You have grown up and been educated in a different era than I was, so the challenges you face will inevitably differ. However, we have equipped you with solid knowledge and skills, and I am confident you will be able to overcome the various challenges ahead. Continue to deepen your expertise and never stop learning," he said.

Prof. Reviono also urged the newly graduated specialists—who have now become alumni—to uphold the good name of UNS and maintain strong ties with both their colleagues and their alma mater.

"I also ask that when you return to your respective institutions, you always carry the name of FK UNS with you and safeguard its reputation, for FK UNS is your alma mater," he advised.

With this graduation of specialists for the August 2026 period, FK UNS has produced a total of 2,182 specialists since its establishment in 1976. These graduates are now spread across Indonesia, dedicating their expertise to various fields—including healthcare services, education, and research—as well as serving in both government and private institutions.
