As an effort to reduce morbidity rates and improve the quality of maternal and child health, the Community Applied Midwifery Research Group of the Undergraduate Midwifery and Midwifery Professional Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, successfully held an Empowerment of Vulnerable Pregnant Women activity through a Prenatal Yoga Class to Reduce Anxiety on Monday (11/05/2026) at Pendhapa, Sewu Village, Surakarta, in partnership with Pucangsawit Health Center. This activity was funded by the Sebelas Maret University RKAT for the 2026 Fiscal Year through the Community Service Research Group Grant (PKM HGR-UNS) scheme with the Community Service Assignment Agreement Number: 463/UN27.22/PT.01.03/2026.

The Community Applied Midwifery Research Group is strongly committed to improving the knowledge and preparedness of pregnant women for pregnancy and childbirth through a promotive and preventive approach. In addition to receiving materials, participants also participated in interactive and relaxing prenatal yoga.

The event was also attended by Dr. Katherine Clark, MSc, M.Clin.Res, RM, from King's College London. Her presence conveyed her support and appreciation for all pregnant women's support for community-based maternal health and strengthened the role of all healthcare professionals.

Through collaboration between academics, healthcare professionals, and the community, this activity is expected to be a concrete step in supporting the improvement of maternal health in an inclusive and sustainable society. Furthermore, this activity also serves as a form of community service implementation oriented towards improving the quality of life for women and their families. This aligns with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 on healthy and prosperous lives and SDG 17 on partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.
