Faculty of Medicine UNS Inaugurates and Takes Hippocratic Oath of 107 New Doctors


 

The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) once again held Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking ceremony for new doctors on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. This inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking ceremony marked the 234th time the Faculty of Medicine has held the event since its establishment in 1976. A total of 107 new doctors, consisting of 39 men and 68 women, were inaugurated and sworn in on this occasion.

Held in the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Tower, UNS, the event was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic and Research, Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Si.; the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); the vice deans of the Faculty; the Chair of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Ari Natalia Probandari, dr., M.P.H., Ph.D.; the Director of Dr. Moewardi Regional Hospital, dr. Zulfachmi Wahab, Sp.PD-KHOM FINASIM; Head of Research Division of UNS Hospital, dr. Nurhasan Agung Prabowo, Sp.PD., M.Kes; Chairman of the UNS Faculty of Medicine Alumni Family, Dr. Muhammad Husen Prabowo, dr., MPH; Head of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program of UNS Faculty of Medicine, Betty Suryawati, dr., M.Biomed Sci., Ph.D., Sp.MK.

In a report read by the Vice Dean for Academic and Research at the Faculty of Medicine, UNS, Prof. Dr. Eti Poncorini Pamungkasari, dr., M.Pd., the 107 participants in the Doctoral Oath were those who had passed the Student Competency Examination for the Medical Professional Program (UKMPPD), which was held in November 2025. The UKMPPD was attended by 115 participants, with 107 (93%) passing, while 105 (95%) of the 110 participants were first-timers.

At this Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking ceremony, nine participants graduated with honors (cumlaude). The highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) was achieved by Dr. Prilla Firsty Prasetyo Putri with a GPA of 3.84. The average GPA at this Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking ceremony was 3.66, with an average study period of 2 years and 4 months.

The representative of the new doctors, Dr. Marsa Zaidan, in her remarks stated that the oath they had taken was a humanitarian pledge that carried with it great responsibility.

"We have made a promise, a pledge to humanity, to life, to the souls who place their hope in a doctor. This promise has no expiration date. May we always be doctors who are not only wise but also empathetic, not only resilient but also compassionate. We will now part as students, but we will meet again as the frontline of healthcare in the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Research, Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si, M.Si, stated that achieving this medical degree is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a life of service to the nation and state.

"According to data from the Indonesian Medical Council as of September 2023, the number of registered doctors in Indonesia is 169,708. Most are concentrated on the island of Java. Many provinces in Indonesia still lack doctors, so don't hesitate to travel throughout Indonesia to share your knowledge. We would be very proud to meet alumni of the UNS Faculty of Medicine in all provinces across Indonesia," she said.

The Dean of the UNS Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Reviono, in his remarks, stated that these new doctors must be professional in carrying out their roles. Integrity and professionalism are essential after graduation.

"Within this professionalism, there are components: competence. Next is responsibility. Then, there are specific components, such as patient safety, which are also included in the professionalism component. Finally, having a broad and positive network is crucial," he said.

Prof. Reviono advised the new doctors to uphold the good name of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS). "Now you are all part of the FK UNS alumni family, so I urge you to uphold the good name of the Faculty," he concluded.

With the inauguration of this 234th class of doctors, since its founding in 1976, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), has graduated 7,536 doctors. They have been spread throughout the country and have dedicated their knowledge to various institutions in the fields of health care, education, research, and as doctors in the government, private sector, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), and other institutions.
