One of the most distinguished alumni of Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Major General (Ret.) Dr. dr. Prihati Pujowaskito, Sp.JP(K), FIHA, M.M.R.S., was officially elected as the President Director of the Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) for the 2026–2031 term. Dr. Prihati replaces Ali Ghufron Mukti, who served as President Director of BPJS Kesehatan for the 2021–2026 term, effective February 19, 2026.

Dr. Prihati's appointment was stipulated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 17/P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the Supervisory Board and Board of Directors of the Social Security Administration for Health.

The Director of the UNS Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship Directorate, Prof. Dr. Dwi Prasetyani, S.E., M.Sc., CIPE., CPRM., stated that Dr. Prihati enrolled in the Medical Education Study Program at the UNS Faculty of Medicine (FK) in 1986 and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1992. She then completed the Medical Professional Program in 1994. As one of UNS's outstanding alumni of the class of 2024, Dr. Prihati has an inspiring track record both during her time as a UNS student and after graduation.

Prof. Dwi Prasetyani expressed her appreciation for this achievement. According to her, this success reflects the quality of education, integrity, and dedication of UNS FK graduates in carrying out public responsibilities at the national level.

"The selection of a UNS Faculty of Medicine alumnus as President Director of BPJS Kesehatan is proof that our graduates are capable of contributing and are trusted to lead institutions in this country," explained Prof. Dwi Prasetyani, Friday (2/20/2026).

 

Profile of Major General TNI (Ret.) Dr. dr. Prihati Pujowaskito, Sp.JP (K), FIHA, M.M.R.S.

Major General TNI (Ret.) Dr. dr. Prihati Pujowaskito, Sp.JP (K), FIHA, M.M.R.S. is a cardiologist with a military background and extensive experience in healthcare and hospital management.

Dr. Prihati was born in Solo, March 29, 1967. In her career, she was a Military Teacher at the Kopassus Batujajar Education Center (1995). Then she became a Health Officer of Battalion 41 Group 4 Kopassus, Cijantung (1997); Health Officer of Battalion 42 Group 4 Kopassus, Cijantung (1998); Health Officer of Battalion 21 Group 2 Kopassus, Kartasura (2002); Pamen Ditkesad PPDS Heart and Blood Vessels FK Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya (2007). Then she became Head of Cardiac Sub-Department of TNI AD Hospital Level II Dustira Kesdam III/SLW (2008); Head of Internal Medicine Department of TNI AD Hospital Level II Dustira Kesdam III/SLW (2011); Head of Cardiac Department of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta (2018); Director of Medical Support at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta (2021), and Dean of the Military Faculty of Medicine, Republic of Indonesia Defense University (2023).

In addition, Dr. Prihati has also served on the Presidential Physician Expert Panel, the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Second Opinion Team for Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) cases, a member of the PP Perki Emergency Commission, an ACLS Instructor for PERKI, and a Coronary Interventional Cardiology Consultant in the Cardiology Department at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital.

The Director of the UNS Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship Directorate, Prof. Dr. Dwi Prasetyani, S.E., M.Sc., CIPE., CPRM, congratulated Dr. Prihati and wished her success. "May Major General (Ret.) Dr. Prihati Pujowaskito carry out her duties to the best of her ability and contribute to the nation," she concluded.
