Paragon x SEKOCI Collaboration Demonstrates Real Concern for Maternal and Child Health in Surakarta

A warm and cheerful atmosphere was felt from the morning at the Loji Gandrung Hall in Surakarta on Saturday (October 18, 2025). Dozens of pregnant women and mothers with toddlers enthusiastically participated in the Complementary School of Mother's Love (SEKOCI), an initiative that combines health education, relaxation practices, and social support for mothers.
This activity is the result of a synergy between PT Paragon Technology and Innovation and the SEKOCI community, in collaboration with the Surakarta City Government, the Surakarta City Health Office, and the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). Carrying the theme "Healthy Mothers, Happy Toddlers," this program encourages the community to understand maternal and child health more holistically—covering physical, mental, and emotional aspects.
"Like a small boat, a lifeboat is often invisible but vital. SEKOCI is an innovative form of pentahelix collaboration that directly addresses real needs in the community. The Surakarta City Government fully supports this activity because it aligns with our commitment to strengthening family-based healthcare services," Astrid Widayani, S.S., S.E., M.B.A., representing the Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, said.

As the program initiator, Dr. Rizka Ayu Setyani, SST, MPH, a lecturer in the Bachelor of Midwifery and Midwifery Professional Education program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS), explained that SEKOCI was born from the spirit of cross-sector collaboration between academics, healthcare workers, government, and industry.
"We want to support mothers in becoming physically and mentally healthier, while ensuring their toddlers grow up happy and loving," she said.
The event consisted of two sessions: a class for pregnant women and a class for mothers and toddlers. In the pregnant women class, participants participated in Prenatal Gentle Yoga to promote relaxation, then learned "Tips for Maintaining Health and Well-Being During Pregnancy" with Rizka Adela Fatsena, S.ST., M.Keb., and a session on "Tips for a Safe and Beautiful Look During Pregnancy" from the Paragonian Team.
Meanwhile, the class for mothers and toddlers featured a Parenting Motivation session, training in growth and development massage, and guidance on age-appropriate infant and child feeding by Iffah Indri Kusmawati, S.SiT., M.Keb., and Noviyati Rahardjo Putri, S.SiT., M.Tr.Keb., a team of Midwifery lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Semarang.

For the participants, the experience of joining SEKOCI was special. One pregnant woman shared that before participating, she often felt anxious and had difficulty sleeping. After trying the yoga and relaxation techniques taught, she felt lighter and her mind calmer. "I also learned how to maintain my sanity during pregnancy. Now I'm more prepared for childbirth," she said with a relieved smile.
Meanwhile, a mother of a toddler admitted to gaining a wealth of new knowledge and valuable experience. "I learned baby massage and how to feed according to the child's development. The class was warm and enjoyable, and my child was happy too. It felt like a new family of fellow mothers," she said.
Not only did the participants benefit, but the Paragonian volunteers also gained a lasting experience. "Joining SEKOCI has made us appreciate the struggles of mothers even more. We came to share knowledge, but instead we learned so much about their sincerity and strength. This simple collaboration can have a huge impact on family happiness," said one Paragonian volunteer.
Support also came from the Surakarta City Health Office, which viewed SEKOCI as a concrete step in fostering a healthy lifestyle from an early age. "Activities like this strengthen promotive and preventive education, which is the foundation for improving maternal and child health services," Health Office representative explained.

The Surakarta City Government also viewed this program as an inspiring model of empowerment. "Collaboration with Paragon demonstrates that the private sector can actively contribute to creating a mother- and child-friendly city," she emphasized.
Through the "Paragonian Bergerak" movement, Paragon affirms its commitment to continuously supporting social activities that have a broad impact on the community. The involvement of volunteers, educators, and partners reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation to create healthy, strong, and happy Indonesian families.
