FK UNS Encourages Innovative Collaboration Through Wolbachia Mosquito and Artificial Intelligence Studies in Health


 

Surakarta, July 4, 2025 - The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), through the Faculty's Research and Community Service Coordinator (KPPMF), held a hybrid scientific seminar entitled "Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Research and Downstreaming of Health Innovation: Synergy of Epidemiology & Artificial Intelligence." The event, held both offline at the FK UNS Auditorium and online via Zoom, was officially opened by the Dean of the FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K).

In his remarks, Prof. Reviono stated that future health challenges require strong collaboration across disciplines, particularly between epidemiology and artificial intelligence, to produce research innovations that can be quickly downstreamed for the benefit of society.

The event featured two national speakers from leading research and academic institutions: Dr. Anto Satriyo Nugroho, B.Eng., M.Eng., Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Research Center, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), delivered a presentation titled "Biomedical Data Analysis Using Artificial Intelligence." In his presentation, he highlighted the immense potential of AI in health data analysis, early disease detection, and data-driven clinical decision support.

The second speaker was Dr. Riris Andono Ahmad, MPH, Ph.D., from the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Population Health, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Health Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. He shared his experience on "Downstreaming Health Research: A Case Study of Wolbachia Mosquito Research." He explained how a data-driven and community-based scientific approach can be translated into effective and sustainable public health interventions.

The event was attended by representatives of the Research Group (RG) and the academic community of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, who actively participated in the discussion and Q&A session. The participants' enthusiasm reflected their awareness of the importance of scientific synergy in addressing the complexity of today's health problems.

With this event, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, reaffirmed its role as an institution that supports interdisciplinary research collaboration and the downstreaming of innovations to the implementation level for the advancement of Indonesia's health system.
