FK UNS Holds Inauguration and Oath-Taking for Midwifery
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta once again held the inauguration and oath-taking for midwifery. This activity was the second period since the establishment of the Midwifery Professional Education Study Program (Prodi). The event took place solemnly at the FK UNS Auditorium Building, Tuesday (5/27/2025).
The inauguration and oath-taking were attended by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), along with the Vice Deans of FK UNS. Also present were the leadership of the UNS Hospital (RS), the Management of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) for the Central Java Region and the IBI Surakarta Branch.
Head of the Midwifery Professional Education Study Program FK UNS, Siti Nurhidayati, S.S.T., Bdn., M.Keb., delivered a number of reports related to the implementation of education. She said that 16 students took the Indonesian midwife professional competency test in the March 2025 period. All participants were declared to have passed the competency test with a 100 percent pass rate for first takers.

From this period of oath-taking, the average Cumulative Achievement Index (GPA) of students reached 3.91. All of them graduated with very satisfactory predicates after studying for an average of 1 year and 9 months. The highest achievement was achieved by Hanifah Sarah Nur Laila Aji with a perfect GPA of 4.00.
In addition, there are several students who have made various non-academic achievements during their professional education. Some of them have succeeded in publishing scientific articles in nationally accredited journals. Hanifah Sarah Nur Laila Aji and Adinda Elsyira Qurroty A’yuny published journals in SINTA 3. While Aina Alifyana Devi and Hesa Candra Meisaputri published journals in SINTA 4. Another student, Hafida Salsabila and her team, obtained a simple patent for a labor pain relief device. This is an important achievement in improving public health services.
The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono, expressed his appreciation and a special message to the new midwives. He emphasized that the midwife profession has a strategic role in reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality Rates. In addition, midwives also play an important role in maintaining the reproductive health of the community.

"The newly inaugurated midwives have now become part of the alumni of FK UNS. The profession of midwife is a noble profession. You will handle a number of issues such as the Maternal Birth Rate (AKI), Infant Mortality Rate (AKB), and reproductive health," said Prof. Reviono.
Dr. Tri Susilowati, S.K.M., M.Kes., from the Central Java IBI Regional Management, expressed similar hopes. She emphasized that the professional oath is not just a ceremony, but a sacred promise of a health worker. Midwives are also at the forefront of reproductive health services in the community.
UNS is committed to continuing to produce professional midwifery who are ethical and competent. With this inauguration, UNS has graduated a total of 26 midwives since the opening of the midwifery professional program in 2022. The graduates are expected to serve in various fields of health services, education, and research. The inauguration and taking of the midwife's professional oath also illustrates UNS' commitment to achieving the third SDGs, a Healthy and Prosperous Life, as well as the fourth SDGs, Quality Education.
