Vagus FK UNS Plants Mangroves on Baros Beach
Coastal environmental damage is one of the ecological problems that is increasingly worrying, especially due to abrasion, pollution, and land conversion. Baros Beach, as one of the coastal areas in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, is also experiencing ecological pressure that requires joint attention. Mangroves as typical coastal vegetation has an important role in maintaining the stability of the coastline, preventing abrasion, and being a habitat for various types of marine biota.
The Nature Lovers Student Association (PMPA) Vagus Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) as a nature lover organization that upholds the values of conservation and dedication feels called to participate in environmental conservation efforts through mangrove planting activities. This activity not only aims to improve the coastal ecosystem, but also instills the value of ecological responsibility in each of its members.
Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), greatly appreciated this activity, according to him this is a real contribution from students to environmental sustainability.
"The Mangrove Planting Activity on Baros Beach is a real manifestation of Vagus' concern for the sustainability of the coastal environment as well as a manifestation of the implementation of the values of devotion, conservation, and social responsibility of student organizations towards society and nature," he said.
