Vagus FK UNS Holds Humanitarian Activities in Wonogiri
As a student organization based on nature lovers and medical assistance, the Nature Lovers Student Association (PMPA) Vagus, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) is committed to continuing to contribute to the humanitarian field. This is evidenced by the holding of a series of activities such as Vagus Mengajar, Sursur Gua and Mass Treatment on April 26-27, 2025 in Pracimantoro District, Wonogiri Regency, Central Java.
Vagus Belajar activities were held at SD Negeri 1 Digal and SD Negeri 3 Digal. Here, students are given basic knowledge and understanding about the dangers of Smoking and Narcotics, Alcohol, Psychotropics, Addictive Substances (NAPZA). These two schools were designated as Vagus Mengajar locations because the two schools are located in remote areas far from the city center. In addition, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024, the prevalence of smokers in rural areas was recorded as higher than in urban areas.

The educational material delivered to 80 students from the two schools was the result of discussions with the principal and the teachers. This was intended so that the material was in accordance with the needs and real problems that occur in the school environment. Through this activity, it is hoped that students from rural areas can understand the dangers of drugs and cigarettes, so that they are able to make healthier life decisions in the future.
In addition to Vagus Mengajar, there was also a Mass Treatment activity attended by dozens of people. Here, people can consult about their health problems and get treatment. Not only treatment, there were also circumcisions and minor surgeries at this activity. The high enthusiasm of the community was very visible in this mass treatment activity, this was proven by the large number of people who came to this event.
In addition to social activities, there were also Horizontal Caving activities for Vagus members held at Gua Macan, as well as exokarst exploration in Gua Paseban, Luweng Songo, and Tlogo Pilah. Horizontal caving activities aim to train basic speleology skills and cave exploration techniques and provide direct experience in exploring the karst area. In addition, with this horizontal caving activity, it is hoped that Vagus members will grow a love for nature and be aware of the importance of cave ecosystem conservation.
