As a Study Program (Prodi) that has a vision and mission to produce competent and professional doctors, the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) in Surgery, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) must undergo a reaccreditation process from the Independent Accreditation Institution for Health Higher Education (LAM-PTKes) as a form of external quality assurance of a study program in carrying out the education process.

LAM-PTKes assigned dr. Nurcahya Setyawan, Sp.B-KBD and Dr. Muhammad Arifin Parenrengi, dr., Sp.BS(K) to conduct a field assessment at the PPDS Surgery Study Program, FK UNS on April 21-22, 2025.

On the first day of the assessment, the two assessors were received by the UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si at the dr. Prakosa UNS Rectorate Building. Also present were the Head of the UNS Education Quality Assurance and Development Institute (LPPMP), Prof. Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd., M.Si; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, S.S., M.Hum, Head of the LPPMP National and International Accreditation Unit; Acting Director of Dr. Moewardi Hospital, dr. Heri Dwi Purnomo, Sp.An; Dean of the UNS Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) along with the vice deans and Head of the PPDS Surgery Study Program, UNS Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Widyanti Soewoto, Sp.B, Sups.Onk (K).

Prof. Hartono in his speech said that the UNS Faculty of Medicine has a strong commitment to improving quality in both education and service aspects.

"In this case, FK UNS together with RSUD Dr. Moewardi have a strong commitment to improving the quality of education and achievements of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in all existing study programs including in PPDS at FK UNS and RSUD Dr. Moewardi," he said.

He also hopes for suggestions and input from the assessors during this assessment process for the progress of the PPDS Surgical Science study program at FK UNS.

"We realize that nothing is perfect even though we have prepared this assessment earnestly and for a long time, so we look forward to suggestions or recommendations from the assessors for the good and progress of the PPDS Surgical Science study program in the future," he said.

One of the assessors, dr. Nurcahya, on this occasion said that his arrival was only to see the conformity of the facts in the field with the report that had been written on the accreditation form.

"We were both assigned by LAM-PTKes to see directly in the field, whether it is in accordance with the forms that have been sent to LAM-PTKes. We will not judge, we will only see and report and later the assessment will be carried out by LAM-PTKes based on the conformity that we see in the field during this assessment process," he said.

After being received by the university leadership, the two assessors along with the heads of faculties and study programs went to the FK UNS auditorium to undergo a field assessment process that began with a presentation from the Dean of FK UNS and the Head of Study Programs and conducted a question and answer session, the two assessors conducted interviews with lecturers about the adequacy of lecturers and the learning curriculum provided to students, in addition, interviews were also conducted with student representatives about academic and non-academic services. Interviews were also conducted with alumni users from the PPDS Surgical Science study program, FK UNS.

On the second day of the assessment, the two assessors visited Dr. Moewardi Hospital and UNS Hospital to see the educational facilities for PPDS Surgical Science students. They also conducted interviews with students and medical staff at both hospitals. Afterwards, the two assessors visited the UNS library, anatomy laboratory and experimental animal laboratory owned by FK UNS.

At the end of the field assessment process, the assessment results were presented by the two assessors. After the presentation, the minutes of the assessors were signed and submitted to the Head of the PPDS Surgical Science Study Program, FK UNS, followed by a group photo.
