Dharma Wanita Persatuan UNS Holds Blood Donation at the Faculty of Medicine


 

Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta again held a Blood Donation ‘Caring for Others’, on Tuesday (18/2/2025). The implementation of this activity was in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Surakarta City. Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Sc., as the Rector of UNS also attended in person at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) as the venue for this activity.

Prof. Hartono officially opened the Blood Donation ‘Caring for Others’ activity at FK UNS. In his remarks, he conveyed a number of benefits that can be felt by donors. In addition to health benefits, blood donation is a form of implementation of community service in the tridharma of higher education. This activity is also part of charity activities which of course foster a sense of social.

"We do charity by donating blood. In addition, we also implement the tridharma of higher education. And, of course, regular blood donation is healthy," Prof. Hartono said.

Dr. Annang Giri Moelyo, dr., Sp.A (K)., M.Kes., as the Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs of FK UNS hoped that there will be benefits that can be received by UNS as the organizer and the donors. Collaboration and support from various parties also contributed to the success of the Blood Donation ‘Caring for Others’ at FK UNS.

"Hopefully this activity can provide many benefits to the community. We are grateful for the various supports from universities and other parties who always work together," dr. Annang said.

Nining Reviono, as the Head of the DWP Implementing Element (UP) FK UNS, reported that the blood donation was carried out routinely. In detail, this activity is a collaboration between DWP, universities, FK, PMI, Medical Center, and KSR. Dozens of UNS academics took part in this activity. Enthusiasm was seen by lecturers, education staff, and students to donate their blood. The third SDGs, a healthy and prosperous life, is one of the goals of this service. By sharing, everyone becomes much healthier, both donors and recipients. Empathy and the need to help each other are also facilitated through this agenda.
