FK UNS Collaborates with BMG Labtech to Hold Workshop on “High-Performance Microplate Reader for Medical and Health Research”
The Biomedical Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in collaboration with BMG Labtech Germany held a workshop on the topic "Recent Advances and Applications of High-Performance Microplate Reader for Medical and Health Research" on Wednesday (11/13/2024).
Taking place in the discussion room of the Biomedical Lab of FK UNS, the workshop which was held in a hybrid manner was attended by students, lecturers and practitioners in the laboratory field both in person and via the Zoom application.
This activity presented 2 speakers, namely Joko Logis, B.Sc (Hon), M.Sc who presented the introduction of the function of the Clariostar Plus microplate reader along with general applications: bacterial growth, DNA quantification, protein quantification, and cell growth. While Dono Indarto, dr., M.Biotech.St., Ph.D AIFM delivered material on the results of research on cytotoxicity and enzyme assays of Indonesian medicinal plants using the Clariostar microplate reader.

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), when opening the workshop conveyed the importance of understanding testing techniques in research.
"Now the era is increasingly developing, the examination methods are also increasingly developing and we must follow. This activity will be a provision for us when we will conduct various researches both when we are students or later when we become academics who are also researchers," he said.
Through this workshop, it is hoped that participants' insight and knowledge about the use of spectrophotometers will increase and can be used as a testing option in their research plans.
