FK UNS Collaborates with PT Sido Muncul to Hold National Seminar on Development and Utilization of Traditional Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in collaboration with PT Industri Jamu and Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk held a national seminar with the theme "Development and Utilization of Traditional Medicine to Support the Healthy Indonesia Movement" which was held on Wednesday (18/9/2024) in a hybrid manner from the FK UNS Auditorium and broadcast live via the Zoom Meeting and YouTube platforms.
The chairman of the committee, Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K) said that the agenda of this national seminar was a collaboration between FK UNS, PT Sido Muncul, the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital (RSJD). This seminar is also a form of implementation of the previous memorandum of understanding between PT Sido Muncul and UNS.
"This opportunity presents expert speakers from each field. There are 240 offline participants, 344 online participants with a total of 584 participants. Hopefully this seminar agenda will be beneficial for the development of science and promote the health of the Indonesian nation," said Dr. Leli.

This activity is divided into 2 sessions, the first seminar session was guided by Dr. Nanang Wiyono, M.Kes. and filled by the Deputy for Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements and Cosmetics of the BPOM of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Dra. Reri Indriani, Apt., M.Sc .; Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia Dita Novianti Sugandi Argadiredja, S.Sc., Apt., M.M .; and Director of PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk., Irwan Hidayat.
While the second seminar session was guided by Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K) and filled by resource person Dr. Neni Susilaningsih, dr., M.Sc. Lecturer at Diponegoro University (Undip); Dr. apt. Ipang Djunarko, S.Si, M.Sc. Regional Administrator (PD) of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY); and Dr. Setyo Sri Rahardjo, dr., M.Kes. Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, UNS.
During his presentation, Director of PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk., Irwan Hidayat said that the collaboration between Sido Muncul and UNS in this case the Faculty of Medicine can be developed more widely in various fields ranging from agriculture, food technology and others.

He hopes that the development of science and technology in the field of herbal medicine can continue to be carried out by the government, academics, the business world, and the community, namely with research-based herbal medicine scientification, and health services.
"That way the dream of herbal medicine becoming the host herbal medicine in its own country will come true," he explained.
Irwan hopes that students at the UNS Faculty of Medicine can be given an understanding of the efficacy of medicinal plants or herbs. He certainly welcomes the collaboration between Sido Muncul and FK UNS. In addition, his party will also be happy to accept students to intern at the Sido Muncul Factory.
"We will not only provide what we know, but we may also get input from the world of education, academics which will definitely be very useful for Sido Muncul," he said.

In this seminar, in addition to gaining new knowledge about traditional medicine ingredients, participants were also given interesting souvenirs from PT. Sido Muncul. In addition, 18 lucky participants were drawn to get a voucher to stay at the Tentrem Hotel owned by the Director of PT Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat.
Not only that, participants who attended the seminar until the end of the event were entitled to cash of Rp. 500,000 for each participant from PT. Sido Muncul which was distributed at the end of the event.
