FK UNS Signs PKS with PT Industri Jamu and Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a cooperation agreement with PT Industri Jamu and Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk. The signing agenda was accompanied by a national seminar themed "Development and Utilization of Traditional Medicine to Support the Healthy Indonesia Movement" which was held on Wednesday (18/9/2024) in a hybrid manner from the FK UNS Auditorium and broadcast live via the Zoom Meeting and Youtube platforms.
The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) expressed his pride in the cooperation between FK UNS and PT Sido Muncul. He also conveyed the importance of downstreaming between education, especially in the pharmaceutical field, into industry.
“Collaboration with PT Sido Muncul will provide color that in Indonesia it is like this. So, besides textbooks that are generally available abroad, well we can also get input from within the country, especially from business actors such as PT Sido Muncul. Of course this will increase our insight,” he said.

Prof. Reviono also hopes that students can be given the opportunity to see firsthand the process of making herbal products at PT Sido Muncul.
“The hope is that students can know how to make medicine, for example, so that students know firsthand the stages of clinical trials, such as toxicity tests and so on. If so far they only know the theory, later if they can be allowed to see it at Sido Muncul it will increase their insight. Later maybe in other places it can be developed. So indeed a matching is needed between the world of education and the world of industry. Not only products but also how student activities are useful when they graduate,” he said.
Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Information of UNS in his speech explained that UNS has signed an MoU with PT Sido Muncul since 2023. The implementation of this collaboration is in the form of holding joint events, collaborative research, and internships for students at PT Sido Muncul. Prof. Irwan also hopes that this kind of collaboration agreement can expand to other linear faculties.
"Collaboration with this industry is one of the achievements of the Main Performance Indicator (IKU) number 6. IKU 6 itself is very crucial and a priority. Thank you to PT Sido Muncul for following up on the previous MoU with a more technical collaboration agreement. Hopefully this collaboration will run well and continue to other linear faculties," Prof. Irwan said in his speech.

So it is studied, my task later is for factories or Sido Muncul or other companies to make raw materials for finished medicines, for example ginger, temulawak, turmeric or what is standardized," he explained.
