The Alumni Family (KA) of UNS Faculty of Medicine Holds National Conference

The Alumni Family (KA) of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a National Conference (Munas) on Saturday (31/8/2024). The election of the Chairperson of the KA FK for the 2024-2029 period was the main agenda of this congress. The activity was opened through an Opening Ceremony which took place on Saturday morning in the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, UNS Tower.

The congress was attended by all FK UNS Leaders as well as the administrators and members of the KA FK UNS. The Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs of UNS, Prof. Dody Ariawan, S.T., M.T, Ph.D., also attended representing the university leadership. No less special, KA FK UNS also presented the Director of the Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) Health, Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc., Ph.D., AAK. The official opening of the KA FK UNS Munas was carried out by breaking a jug followed by a group photo.

The Head of the KA FK for the 2019-2024 Period, Sri Pratomo, dr., Sp.B., FINACS, FICS., at the Opening Ceremony conveyed the "Three Plus One" important provisions that FK UNS Alumni need to have. The three important things are technical skills or hard skills, non-technical skills or soft skills, and ethics in facing the development of the times. Another thing that is a plus is mastery of technology.

"As a doctor, we inevitably follow the development of science and technology," Sri Pratomo said.

The existence of alumni also needed to provide a positive contribution to the alma mater. Sri Pratomo reminded that KA FK UNS is a large alumni family, so the impact given must also be large. Senior alumni should be mentors and provide guidance for juniors or new graduates. Close ties between alumni across generations will further strengthen KA FK UNS.

The role of alumni also contributed to the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of State Universities, especially in the first IKU. New graduates of FK UNS can be helped to get decent jobs, one of which is through a strong alumni network. The experience of the alumni would certainly help new graduates in entering the world of work, becoming entrepreneurs, or in continuing their studies.

Another thing that Sri Pratomo mentioned was the lack of fellow doctors who are involved in politics. It is only right that doctors also have a role in making regulations that regulate health and professions in legislative institutions. He hopes that this can be realized through alumni of the UNS Medical Faculty.

The Vice Dean of Academic, Research, and Student Affairs of the UNS Medical Faculty, Paramasari Dirgahayu, dr. Ph.D., in her speech also expressed his gratitude for the role of the UNS Medical Faculty Alumni at the national and international levels. She emphasized that whatever the role and achievements of the alumni are, it is a matter of pride for the alma mater. This is in line with the faculty's slogan, namely "UNS Medical Faculty is Increasingly Flaming".

Through the existence of the UNS FK KA National Conference, Prof. Dody hoped that an alumni management with positive and innovative work programs will be formed. As the head of the university, he conveyed the various roles of alumni that can be given to UNS. The important role of alumni is in the UNS accreditation process both at the university, faculty, and study program levels. Alumni who are now working in various institutions can also be a bridge for cooperation between UNS and external parties.

"With the holding of the UNS Medical Faculty National Conference, the UNS Faculty of Medicine can further develop the quality in both academic and non-academic fields," Prof. Dody said.
