FK UNS KKN Team of Klari Village, Holds Training on Making PMT Based on Local Food Ingredients

Students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) Group 310 held a Training on Making Supplementary Feeding (PMT) Based on Local Food Ingredients at the Klari Village Hall, Karanggede District, Boyolali Regency on Saturday (07/27/2024).

The Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) is one of the government's programs in an effort to prevent stunting. Supplementary Feeding (PMT) is an activity of providing food to toddlers in the form of safe and quality snacks. This activity can be supported by paying attention to aspects of food quality and safety, and containing nutritional value.

The Local Food-Based PMT Making Training Activity was attended by 30 Posyandu Cadres of Klari Village. The activity began with education on providing PMT to toddlers aged 6-59 months as basic provisions for the cadres regarding the nutrients that should be contained in PMT. In her speech, Farida Aryanti A.Md, Keb., as the Village Midwife hoped: "This activity can be a provision of knowledge on PMT with local ingredients for cadres to prevent the provision of instant food and can improve toddler nutrition," said Midwife Farida.

The activity was continued with a demonstration of making a PMT menu from the main ingredients of tofu (made by soybeans), green beans, and corn, by KKN students, namely Syafiqah Qurratulaini, Brigitta Viki Varansia, and Danendra Pratama Purnama Putra. The PMT menus demonstrated were cheerful tofu, fantasy pudding, and corn soup. Soybeans, green beans, and corn are local ingredients that are easily obtained every day in Klari village, making it easier for cadres and residents who want to make this PMT menu in the future.

After the cooking demonstration, participants were divided into 3 groups to practice cooking the PMT menu accompanied by KKN FK UNS students. To enliven the event, the best individual and group participants received prizes as appreciation for their active participation in the activity.

This activity is expected to increase the knowledge and skills of cadres in creating PMT menu innovations to reduce the incidence of stunting. PMT made from soybeans, green beans, and corn is good for toddlers because it contains carbohydrates, protein, iron, folic acid, and vitamin B.
