The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta inaugurated and took the oath of 149 new doctors. The inauguration and Hippocratic Oath taking of the 228th period was held at the G. P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Tuesday (13/8/2024). On that occasion, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Sc., Dean of FK UNS, General Chairperson of the FK UNS Alumni Family dr. Sri Pratomo, Sp.B., FinaCS, FiCS, Representatives from UNS Hospital (RS UNS), and Representatives from the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Moewardi Surakarta.

In his report, the Vice Dean for Academic, Research and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine, UNS, Paramasari Dirgahayu, dr., Ph.D. conveyed at the inauguration and oath of doctors for period 228 of the Faculty of Medicine, UNS, that based on the results of the May 2024 Doctoral Program Student Competency Test (UKMPPD) which was held on May 25, 2024 for the CBT Exam and May 18, 2024 for the OSCE exam, 149 people were declared to have graduated as doctors, consisting of 39 women and 110 men.

In the Hippocratic Oath taking ceremony period 228, there were 55 people who received Cumlaude predicate or with praise. The average Cumulative Achievement Index (IPK) at the Inauguration and Oath of Doctors this time was 3.72 with an average study period of 2 years and 4 months. And the highest GPA at the Inauguration and Oath of Doctors this time was achieved by Renasheva Alifia Nugraha with a GPA of 3.85.

"I congratulate the younger siblings, fellow doctors who will enter the world of medical profession, may you be successful. Likewise, I congratulate the parents and family members of the doctors," Paramasari, Ph.D mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P (K). in his speech advised the new doctors to have 3 things, namely professionalism, integrity and have a wide network.

"My message is that these 3 things should not be forgotten. This professionalism consists of the competencies that you have, you have been educated at FK UNS so I am sure that all of you already have competencies that are beyond doubt. Then this integrity includes honesty, discipline, responsibility and so on, then networking," Prof. Reviono said.

UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. in his speech said that to achieve success, one needs a dream. “A doctor’s career is very broad. It can be at the functional level by becoming a doctor, then becoming a specialist doctor, becoming a subspecialist doctor, then becoming a lecturer, researcher, academic or even becoming a specialist doctor as well as a lecturer and researcher. Then it can also be at the structural level by becoming the Head of a Health Center, Director of a Hospital, Minister, Rector and so on. Please realize your dreams after this, which level you want to choose,” Prof. Hartono said.

Representative from RSUD dr. Moewardi Surakarta, dr. Sulistyani Kusumaningrum, Sp.Rad, M.Sc. in her speech emphasized the importance of excellent service. "You must be able to adapt wherever you work, give a smile from one patient to hundreds of patients. With a smile, patients will be happy. Treat patients well, and always be friendly to patients," said dr. Sulistyani.

With the inauguration of the 228th period of doctors, since its establishment in 1976, FK UNS has graduated 7,248 doctors, have been spread throughout the country and have devoted their knowledge to various institutions both in the fields of health services, education, research, as well as government doctors, private, TNI / POLRI and others.
