The Board of Trustees (MWA) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) inaugurated Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Sc. as the Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 period. The MWA Plenary Meeting for the Inauguration of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 Period was held at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Thursday (8/8/2024).

The Chairperson of the MWA UNS, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D. immediately took the oath and inaugurated the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 Period in front of the MWA members and invited guests present. "By expressing gratitude to Allah SWT, the Almighty God, for His guidance and blessings, today, Thursday, August 8, 2024, I, the Chairperson of the UNS MWA, hereby officially inaugurate you (Prof. Hartono-ed) as the Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 period. I believe that you will carry out your duties as best as possible in accordance with the responsibilities given. May Allah SWT, the Almighty God, be with us," Prof. Muliaman said during the inauguration.  

Representing all UNS campus residents, Prof. Muliaman congratulated Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. as the Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 period. Congratulations on carrying out the mandate from the state and society to participate in educating the nation and prospering society through education.

"Quoting the words of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the Rector is the Ambassador of Independent Learning, Independent Campus. The Rector is the spearhead of success in building students to innovate and ensuring that universities produce intelligent and characterful people," Prof. Muliaman added.

Prof. Muliaman hopes that in the next five years, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Sc., UNS can become a pioneer of Good University Governance and shape UNS into the best world-class campus that produces real work in the field of Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely teaching, research, and community service. Where in Good University Governance there are values of transparency that make honesty the key to management; fairness that makes fairness/justice the basis of UNS management; accountability that encourages accountability for the implementation of program activities according to the results of the RKAT that must be implemented; responsibility that encourages being responsible so that UNS becomes good so that it is not related to the law; and collegiality that always prioritizes togetherness in solving various current problems at UNS.

With Good University Governance, it will produce good university management that will produce world-class innovations and scientific works that will be able to support good and quality teaching. Innovation and quality scientific works that are downstreamed will be a contribution of Higher Education to the community as part of its devotion to the community and a source of UNS's eternal funds. And UNS can produce graduates with noble character and be able to develop science to answer the developments of the times.

"I, as an individual, and representing all UNS campus residents, also express my gratitude to Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H. in addition to being the Inspector General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as well as the Acting Rector of UNS who has led UNS until the inauguration of Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Sc. as UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 Period of Office today. Also to Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum. as the Rector of UNS for the 2019-2024 period and the previous Rectors who have brought UNS to the top ranks of universities throughout Indonesia. To Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., once again I say congratulations. Congratulations on carrying out your duties and mandate well," Prof. Muliaman said.

During the inauguration, a memorandum of the end of office was also handed over from Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H. to the Chairperson of the UNS MWA, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D. followed by the handover from the Chairperson of the UNS MWA to the Rector for the 2024-2029 Period.

Before being appointed and inaugurated as the Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 Period, Prof. Hartono had served as Dean of the UNS Faculty of Medicine for the 2015-2019 period, then served as Director of the UNS Hospital for the 2020-2023 Period and was again trusted to lead the UNS Hospital as Acting Director in early 2024.
