The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) conducted benchmarking at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (UI) on Wednesday (3/7/2024). Located at the FK UI Salemba campus, the group from FK UNS consisting of representatives of lecturers, education staff and students was welcomed directly by the Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. dr. Dwiana Ocviyanti, Sp.OG(K), M.P.H.

Acting Officer of Vice Dean for Academic Research and Student Affairs, FK UNS, dr. Paramasari Dirgahayu, Ph.D, in her speech said that the purpose of this visit was to obtain information about UI strategies and policies in an effort to improve student competence.

"We certainly want to talk to you about several things here, about strategies to support and improve student competence, apart from that, we also want to get information about how UI builds student character, gives awards and provides guidance to students," she said.

Responding to dr. Paramasari statement, Prof. Dwiana said that improving student competency must always be carried out, but a strategy is needed so that the support provided by the faculty to students can get maximum results. According to her, students are now more critical and smarter because they were born in an era that is supported by advanced technology.

"We were very happy when we read the letter from FK UNS that this visit was intended to improve student competence. So, it is true that these students need to be supported to be able to achieve all their potential so that they can achieve various achievements including winning various championships. However, we also have to be careful in determining what strategy is appropriate so that everything can run well," she explained.

Prof. Dwiana hoped that with this meeting both parties can exchange ideas, ideas or experiences regarding various challenges and obstacles faced in efforts to increase student competence.

“Obviously, by communicating we will both become better. Our dean always says that if you want to run fast then run alone, but if you want to achieve a goal then run together," she said.
