FK UNS with FEB and SV Signed an Integrity Pact as a Form of Commitment in Launching an Integrity Zone

As an agency that provides direct services to students and the community, commitment is required to be able to provide services to established professional standards.

It is on this basis that the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) together with the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and the Vocational School (SV) signed an Integrity Pact as a form of commitment in launching an Integrity Zone (ZI) towards a Corruption Free Area (WBK) and Clean Serving Bureaucratic Area (WBBM).

Taking place in the Hall of the Suhardi Building FEB UNS on Thursday (28/6/2024), this joint activity of the three faculties was attended by the Acting Officer of Rector UNS, the Dean and the leadership, lecturers, education staff, student organizations (Ormawa) from FEB, FK and SV.

Also present were external guests, heads of partner banks, heads of government institutions, hospital heads, department heads, heads of partner companies and other invited guests.

Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H, Acting Officer of Rector UNS, at the beginning of her speech expressed her appreciation for the implementation of the ZI launching activities with three faculties at UNS.

"As the Acting Officer of Rector, I really appreciate this activity because the construction of ZI WBK on the UNS campus shows 2 things. The first is the commitment of all UNS leadership levels as well as the Deans and their staff as well as all UNS management to make UNS a campus with integrity. The second is as a form of very clear understanding for all of us that UNS as PTNBH is still part of the government work unit, the Ministry of Education and Culture's work unit and which is obliged to carry out bureaucratic reform and we are carrying out bureaucratic reform in the education sector," she explained.

The realization of a campus with integrity is a strategic step to accelerate the achievement of the goals of providing higher education as regulated in Article 5 of the Higher Education Law because things that are corrupt will move away from the objectives of the programs being implemented.

It is further said that bureaucratic reform is a planned change in the process that is supported by the leadership of the organization to change the bureaucratic system, change the relationships that exist within the bureaucracy itself and the bureaucratic relationships between us and the people who receive services.

Leader is a very central and strategic position because it is the leader who must be able to drive change.

These changes will have to be felt after we carry out the declaration. How are we perceived in providing public services because we are part of the public. So, our measurement must always be from the perception of the service recipient.

Dr. Chatarina emphasized that the launch of ZI is not a ceremonial event, not a formal event but as an encouragement for us to make changes quickly and precisely. Leaders must be able to be good role models.

According to her, bureaucratic reform in the education sector is very easy, it just depends on whether we want to change or not. Don't let us feel that we are already excellent and that there are no more changes.

One of our programs is to understand that in carrying out our duties and responsibilities there are two things that are very related to corruption, namely corruptive behavior, including those related to the use of power. This happens most often, causing conflicts of interest.

"What we often forget is usually because while I am an official, I have the authority. What are the benefits for me, for my child, for my family and for my group. This is what we have to understand, that once again our position cannot hold the interests and duties of the institution hostage, it must not hold our goals hostage," she stressed.

Djoko Suhardjanto, M.Com.(Hons)., Ph.D., Ak, Dean of FK Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), and Dean of SV Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc., Ak.
