Integrated Medical Laboratory of FK UNS Undergoes Accreditation Field Assessment from KAN
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in carrying out the education, research and teaching process cannot be separated from the role of the laboratory as a means of educating medical students. Apart from that, the laboratory also functions as a place for testing services. The existence of this laboratory requires certification from a competent institution to ensure quality and quality.
The National Accreditation Committee (KAN) as an institution that has been given authority by the government to carry out laboratory certification in Indonesia conducted field visits as a series of accreditation processes for the FK UNS Integrated Medical Laboratory for two days, on 29 February – 1 March 2024.

Four assessors from KAN, namely Dian Asriani, S.Si., M.Si; drh. Agus Wiyono, Ph.D; Dr. drh. Anni Kusumaningsih, M.Sc; drh. M. Syukron Amin, M.Si would directly see the completeness of the documents and observe the technical testing in the Biomedical laboratory, Microbiology laboratory and FK UNS Parasitology laboratory.
The opening of this field assessment activity was attended by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); acting officer of vice deans at FK UNS; Head of the Integrated Medicine Laboratory, FK UNS, dr. Dono Indarto, M.Biotech.St, Ph.D; and all those responsible for laboratories and laboratory assistants at FK UNS.
Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono really supports this new activity because laboratory quality is very important to maintain.

"So far, our laboratory has focused on learning, education and service. "The change in our university's status from BLU to PTNBH requires us to continue to improve our quality because of course the demands for quality issues from stakeholders and the community will also be higher," he said.
"Hopefully the activities can run well and get the best accreditation results for our laboratory," he concluded.
The Lead Assessor of KAN, Dian Asriani, S.Si, said that the arrival of the assessors was a form of carrying out the mandate of the law, namely regarding standardization and conformity assessment.
"We were given the mandate to carry out accreditation of Conformity Assessment Institutions, in this case one of which is the laboratory, because one of the laboratory activities is conformity assessment, in this case testing," she explained.

It was further stated that the purpose of this accreditation is to ensure that the competence of the FK UNS Integrated Medical Laboratory in carrying out testing activities is in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
It is hoped that this laboratory accreditation will further increase the quality of the laboratory at FK UNS so that it can carry out its function as a place for superior teaching, research and testing.
