The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) held the Young Doctor’s Promise and Pre-Education Ceremony on Monday (26/2/2024) at the Sekar Jagad Room at Dr. Moewardi Hospital (RSDM).

Attended and witnessed by the Deputy Director of Hospital Services, Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, Heri Dwi Purnomo, dr., Sp.An; Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); Acting Officer Vice Dean of FK UNS; as well as the Head of the FK UNS Medical Professional Study Program, Dr. Pepi Budianto, dr., Sp.P(K), as many as 146 students took the young doctor's promise.

After making the promise, the participant's representative was given a young doctor's identification card and signed an integrity pact containing obligations, prohibitions and regulations that must be obeyed while studying at RSDM.

In his remarks, Acting Officer Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs FK UNS, dr. Paramasari Dirgahayu Ph.D said that apart from taking the young doctor's promise, the participants would also undergo Pre-Education activities for three days on February 26, 27 and 29.

"This pre-education activity is a provision for the participants before undergoing young doctor education activities. All obligations and prohibitions for participants, as well as sanctions for those who violate the rules, will all be explained in this Pre-Education activity," she said.

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono said that during the 4 years of undergraduate medical education, these participants were only exposed to learning theory and practice of lab skills with simulated patients or mannequins, then in this phase of young doctor education the students would handle patients directly.

"You all are now undergoing education that is completely different from when you were undergraduate, now you will be hands-on in dealing with patients directly. Apart from that, you will get education that you didn't get before, namely interprofessional education, you will all interact with nurses and admin and so on. Therefore, keep maintaining the good name of FK UNS because now you are no longer within the FK UNS environment," Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono, explained.

Deputy Director of Hospital Services Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, Heri Dwi Purnomo, dr., Sp.An in his speech advised these young doctors to be serious about their education and uphold respect for all parties in the RSDM.

"Hopefully these young doctors can study well, gain benefits, knowledge and skills from Dr Moewardi Hospital. I don't forget to order these young doctors to respect employees, employees, patients, doctors and all parties at Dr Moewardi Hospital. Patients are teachers for all of you, treat them with kindness and respect," Dr. Heri said.

"I hope that all of you will become qualified doctors, who will be of quality, useful to society," he concluded.
