The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) again held an Inauguration and Doctor's Oath Taking event on Wednesday (7/2/2024). This Doctor's Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking is the 226th period held by the UNS Faculty of Medicine since its founding in 1976.

Located in the FK UNS Auditorium, 72 participants took part in this event consisting of 27 male participants and 45 female participants. Participants in this activity are those who have passed the Student Competency Examination for the Medical Professional Program (UKMPPD) which was held on November 25 2023. This UKMPPD was attended by 77 participants with the number of participants passing as many as 72 people (93.51%) while the pass rate First takers were 71 people (96.67%) out of 75 participants.

At this time's Inauguration and Doctor's Oath Taking, there were 22 participants with Cumlaude predicate with an average Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.73 with an average length of study of 2 years 4 months. The highest GPA at this Doctor's Inauguration and Oath was achieved by Dr. Noni Alyani Hutomo with a GPA of 3.87.

This activity was attended by Plt. UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S; Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); the Acting Officer of vice deans at FK UNS; Vice Director of Regional General Hospital Support (RSUD) Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, Sukmonoadi Singosurandono, SKM; Vice Director for Education and Research at UNS Hospital, dr. Tonang Dwi Ardyanto, Sp.PK(K)., Ph.D., FISQua; Secretary General of the FK UNS Alumni Family Association, dr. Dewi Purnamaningsih. P.S; Head of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program, Dr. Eti Poncorini Pamungkasari, dr., M.Pd; Head of the Medical Professional Study Program, Dr. Pepi Budianto, dr., Sp.S(K).

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono in his speech said that the challenges for these new doctors in the future as clinicians will be even greater and more diverse.

"As a clinician there will be continuous developments and you must master this, because medical science in the management of services will continue to develop, besides there are regulations that will change and that will definitely affect you," Prof. Reviono said.

However, he continued, new doctors do not need to worry because the UNS Faculty of Medicine has equipped its students with sufficient knowledge and skills to face these challenges.

Prof. Reviono entrusted a message to the new doctors to maintain the good name of FK UNS, "We are entrusting this great name so that later when you are in society you can serve yourself as well as possible because you are all a showcase for the Faculty of Medicine UNS," he concluded.

Vice Director for Education and Research at UNS Hospital, dr. Tonang Dwi Ardyanto said that becoming a doctor is a great opportunity to serve oneself to society.

"We must be grateful that being a doctor gives us quite a big opportunity to become something we like, we are smart, we earn money and are needed by society whose existence provides meaning both for ourselves and those around us," he said.

Prof. Ahmad Yunus on this occasion expressed his gratitude to the academic community of FK UNS for the various achievements that have been achieved so far, resulting in being ranked third in the best Medical Faculty in Indonesia.

"Our message from the university is to maintain the name of the alma mater and continue to advance professionalism in the health sector, especially in the medical sector," Prof. Yunus said.

With the inauguration of the 226th period of doctors, since the founding of 1976, the Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, has graduated 7096 (seven thousand and ninety six) doctors, who have spread throughout the country and have devoted their knowledge to various agencies in the field of health services, education, research, as well as doctors for the government, private sector, TNI/POLRI and others.
