RGDC FK UNS Holds Youth Ambassador Training Activities for the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NDC)


 

Creating awareness of healthy lifestyles from an early age is one of the important things to do so that teenagers get used on healthy lifestyles. Providing information about health is also very useful for teenagers who are still unfamiliar with health problems.

Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) through the Research Group Disease Control (RGDC) held Youth Ambassador Training: School Health Ambassadors for the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NDC) for Adolescents and Families. This activity itself is a form of community service carried out by RGDC FK UNS.

Taking place at SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta on Thursday (19/10/2023), this activity was attended by 5 teachers and 20 students who were members of the Youth Red Cross (PMR). These 20 PMR members would later become school health ambassadors at SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta.

The purpose of this activity itself is to provide students with an understanding of NCD. On this occasion, various information was provided about NCDs, including the definition of non-communicable diseases, how to prevent them and how to screen them.

Not only providing information about non-communicable diseases, this activity is also filled with discussions and screening training such as how to measure body weight and height correctly, how to measure BMI, how to measure blood pressure, and how to measure blood sugar, cholesterol and acid levels. tendon.

Dr. Ratih Puspita Febrinasari, dr., M.Sc as a representative from the Disease Control Research Group FK UNS hopes that students who take part in this activity can share their knowledge with other friends.

"Hopefully this activity can provide benefits for the participating students to be able to recognize non-communicable diseases earlier, so they can provide information about the dangers and ways to prevent them to friends, family and the community later," Dr. Ratih said.
