About 200 Students of Medical Study Program FK UNS Class of 2023 Participate in Social Service Activities in Trosemi Village
In accordance with the vision and mission and objectives of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), namely to produce doctors who excel in the community sector, bringing students closer to the community is one form of education provided so that students become better acquainted with the health problems that exist in society.
Based on this, FK UNS through the Medical Education Study Program held a Social Service activity on 27-29 October 2023. This activity was attended by around 200 FK UNS Medical Education students Class of 2023.
Located in Trosemi Village, Gatak District, Sukoharjo Regency, this social service is filled with various activities such as health education, health check clinics, bazaars and distribution of basic necessities.
On the first day, this social service activity was opened at the Trosemi Village Hall and attended by representatives of lecturers from the FK UNS Medical Education Study Program and Gatak District village officials.
On the second day, Health Education activities were held at Trosemi I and II Elementary Schools and Trosemi I and II Kindergartens. It was seen that the kindergarten and elementary school children who took part in this activity were very happy when they were given health education by FK UNS students. These children are given knowledge about how to brush their teeth properly, how to wash their hands correctly, information about nutritious food and the bad effects of gadgets on the eyes.

The principal of SDN Trosemi I, Khusnul Khotimah, expressed her gratitude for this activity which was very beneficial for his students.
"Of course, we are very grateful for holding this activity, it is very useful and the children are also very happy because they are getting new experiences. There is a lot of information about health that children may have never received before," she said.
When the Health Check Clinic activity was taking place, dozens of local residents were seen coming to the Trosemi Village Hall to check their health. Here residents were checked for blood pressure, weight and other health checks.
Head of the Undergraduate Program in Medicine FK UNS, Dr. Eti Pncorini P, dr., M.Kes said that this activity is routinely carried out by FK UNS as a form of UNS' service to the community.
"This social service activity is a form of embodiment of the vision and mission and excellence of FK UNS in the community sector," Dr. Eti explained.

It was further stated that this activity would be very beneficial for students when they later become doctors who have to be involved directly in society.
"The aim of this activity is to provide new students with the opportunity to experience direct interaction with the community and get an idea of how doctors work to serve the community so that later they can implement the knowledge they have gained from college to help the community in solving health problems," she added.
