FK UNS Inaugurates and Takes Hippocratic Oath of 60 New Doctors


 

Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) again held an Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking event on Friday (25/08/2023). This Doctor's Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking is the 224th period held by the UNS Faculty of Medicine since its founding in 1976. A total of 60 participants took part in this event, consisting of 30 male participants and 30 female participants.

Participants in this activity are those who have passed the Student Competency Examination for the Medical Professional Program (UKMPPD) which was held in May 2023. This UKMPPD was taken by 62 participants with the number of participants passing as many as 60 people (96.7%) while the pass rate the first takers were 60 people (98%) from 61 participants.

This activity was attended by UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S; Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); the deputy deans at FK UNS; Deputy Director for Services at the Regional General Hospital Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, Dr. Heri Dwi Purnomo, dr., Sp.An(K).

Prof. Yunus said that UNS is heading towards becoming a World Class University, so students and alumni are required to adapt to changes and developments in the world of education.

"UNS's success is not only measured by national standard levels but also by international standards. Therefore, the curriculum, learning process, and achievement of medical professional competencies must also be directed to international levels. Likewise with the alumni, it is really hoped that these new doctors will take further studies so that their competence, profession and skills can be further developed," Prof. Yunus said.

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono in his speech said that new doctors must have 3 things in carrying out their profession, namely professionalism, integrity and networking in order to become good doctors.

“We have actually taught this professional, there is an element of competence in it. In carrying out services, you must have good and correct competence. Apart from that, in professionalism there is an element of responsibility, so every action you take must be accountable and you must be able to communicate effectively with patients," Prof. Reviono said.

“The second is integrity, one of the elements in it is honesty. This honest attitude is currency that will sell anywhere in the world. In addition to being honest, discipline must be applied in maintaining our integrity. And the last one is networking, because we will definitely need the help of other people in our lives,” he continued.

Deputy Director for Services at the Regional General Hospital Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, Dr. Heri Dwi Purnomo, dr., Sp.An(K), on this occasion hopes that new doctors can continue their education as specialist doctors.

"We still need a lot of specialist doctors, so we invite all new doctors to continue their education to specialist level after completing all their obligations," dr. Heri said.

Representative of the new doctors, Dr. Sutan Kahfi Alif Widianto, in his remarks advised his fellow new doctors to maintain the good name of the medical profession.

"Being a doctor is a mandate, being a doctor is a responsibility, being a doctor is a noble profession. Therefore, never be arrogant, don't feel complacent, stay humble and keep learning because the nature of a doctor is a long life learner," he said.

At the Doctor's Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking this time, there were 39 participants with the Cumlaude predicate and the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) was achieved by dr. Yosia Yonggara with a GPA of 3.85. With the inauguration of the 224th period doctor, since its establishment in 1976 the Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, has graduated 6,965 (six thousand nine hundred sixty five) doctors, who have spread all over the country and have devoted their knowledge to various institutions both in the field health services, education, research, as well as doctors in the government, private sector, TNI/POLRI and others.
