Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) policy to become a World Class University (WCU) must be supported by all components, one of the components is by increasing the quality of research and publications. The resulting research products also need to be given a way to convey its benefits to the wider community. To be able to improve the downstream quality of innovative products and research results, Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNS held a Workshop on Collaboration and Downstream Research Workshop which was held on Wednesday (07/26/2023) at the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Tower UNS Building.

This workshop presented an expert on the downstream research products from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Dr. Soni Trison, S.Hut., M.Sc, and also owner of PT. Namanya Vishnutama/Navishu Corp, Ir. H.R. Arya Hadi Setya Jalutanda, M.Sc., ND., Ph.D.

"On this occasion we invited 38 heads of research groups in FK UNS as well as students and lecturers who already have research products," he explained.Dr. Soni Trison, S.Hut., Msi said that innovation and business are inseparable "No matter how good our innovation is, if our business approach does not exist, then the innovation will only stall in the laboratory, stored in the faculty and the benefits cannot be conveyed to the community," he explained.

"In developing and driving entrepreneurs, three things are needed, namely willingness, ability and opportunity," he said.

Ir. H.R. Arya Hadi Setya Jalutanda, M.Sc., ND., Ph.D in this workshop said that this research product could be marketed commercially to the public.

"The products that you have made and have researched can actually be marketed to the public as long as they meet the predetermined standards," he mentioned.
According to him, one of the keys to success in product marketing is to be precise in determining the target market.

“Each product that we produce has different characteristics so that the target market for our products is also different. We have to be careful in determining the targets of our products so that our products can be right on target, besides that we also have to be able to explain well the advantages of our products," he explained.

It is hoped that this workshop activity can further broaden participants' insights about the importance of downstream research products and strategies to be able to successfully market the products that have been produced.
