PPDS Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Study Program of FK UNS Organizes International Guest Lecture
Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an International Guest Lecture. The activity, which was held online on Tuesday (23/5/2023), is part of a series of building excellent research by inviting top scientist sources.
The speakers invited to this event were Prof. Antoni Torres Marti, MD, Ph.D., FERS, FCCP who served at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona Universitat of Barcelona. He is an expert in the respiratory field with H index 110 while the Universitat of Barcelona with WUR182.
"Actually, the UNS Pulmonary Specialist Study Program has sent its students to the Barcelona hospital, so this is not the first time this activity has been held between the UNS Pulmonary Specialist Study Program and Barcelona Universitat of Barcelona Hospital," the Dean of the UNS FK, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), explained.
The international guest lecture took the topic of the New Guidelines of Severe Community Acquired Pneumonia. This activity will increase international exposure to students and lecturers. The implementation was held online and openly, so that many other study programs took part, namely the THTBKL Specialist Doctor Study Program, Clinical Pathology Specialist Study Program and Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program. In addition, there were also participants from outside UNS, such as from Airlangga University, Surabaya, Brawijaya University from Malang, from Jakarta, from outside Java, such as from Jayapura, Merauke, Banjarmasin, Medan.
"The material presented is very important, namely, about pneumonia. This disease is very much acquired in society with different degrees, ranging from mild to critical. Pneumonia is very strategic because it can cause pandemics, including the Covid 19 pandemic. Almost all pandemics start with pneumonia," he added.
It is hoped that this international guest lecture activity will increase information about the most recent management of severe pneumonia. So that Lung PPDS students will be able to understand and apply the new guidelines and not be left behind by international developments.
