FK UNS Holds Free Health Screening for Academic Community through Institutional Integrated Development Post (Posbindu)
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) held routine Institutional Integrated Development Posts (Posbindu) activities for UNS FK academics on Friday (12/05/2023). Taking place in the Auditorium of FK UNS, this activity was attended by dozens of academics who wanted to have their health checked.
This Institutional Posbindu activity is a workplace screening program focused on early detection of Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM). In this Posbindu service, FK UNS academics who check their health will get blood pressure checks, weight and height measurements, abdominal circumference measurements, blood sugar level checks and free health consultations.
Posbindu examination services are focused on PTM because PTM itself is the main cause of death in the world, almost three-quarters of deaths are due to non-communicable diseases that occur in poor and developing countries.
FK UNS itself is one of ten consortium members from Europe and Southeast Asia who have a research project called Scalling-Up NCD Interventions in South-East Asia (SUNI-SEA) which focuses on the prevention and control of NCDs.
At this Posbindu implementation, 6 international students were present from the University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. The six students participated in Posbindu services, such as: measuring blood pressure, checking blood sugar, measuring abdominal circumference, and others.
One of the international students named Leok, on the sidelines of his activities in Posbindu services, explained that they also used this Posbindu activity for the process of collecting research data for their final project.
"We are very happy to be able to participate in this Posbindu activity. Health checks for staff at the institution are important, for the prevention and control of diseases, especially non-communicable diseases. On this occasion, we also collect data for our Final Project research. We hope that with this Posbindu the staff can carry out regular health checks for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases," Leok explained.
It is hoped that this Institutional Posbindu activity can provide an overview of health for FK UNS academics and serve as early screening if disease is found so that further treatment can be immediately received.
