CIMSA FK UNS Successfully Organizes National Peer Education Workshop 2023


 

The Center for Indonesian Medical Students' Activities (CIMSA) is an Indonesian medical student organization that is independent, nationalist, inclusive, non-political, non-partisan, and activity-based. Members of CIMSA consist of medical students spread throughout Indonesia, including from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). CIMSA FK UNS on Friday (31/03/2023) to Sunday (02/04/2023) hosted the National Peer Education Workshop (NPEW 2023) whose participants were CIMSA members from various regions in Indonesia.

NPEW 2023 takes the theme "Enhancing PETRA's Roles in Line with SCORA CIMSA's Movement", PETRA is a Peer Educator Trainers, while SCORA is the Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights Including HIV & AIDS. The aim of the CIMSA workshop this time is to create a new generation of PETRA and stay in line with the essence of SCORA CIMSA.

The NPEW event lasted for three days by presenting drg. Kartini Rustandi, M.Kes as the main speaker. drg. Kartini is the Director of Health for Productive Age and Elderly, Directorate General (Ditjen) of Public Health, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). This activity was opened by the Deputy Dean of Planning, Business Cooperation, and Information FK UNS, Dr. Selfi Handayani, dr., M.Kes and was attended by 70 participants from various regions in Indonesia. Later these 70 participants will become new Peer Educator Trainers.

In his remarks, dr. Selfi really appreciates the activities of this workshop, which is the first offline meeting of CIMSA members from all over Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"This event was vacuumed for 2 years due to the pandemic, so this is the first time after the pandemic. Therefore, brothers and sisters, enjoy and let's take advantage of today's event, one for friendship, all of you get to know each other, interact with fellow medical students," Dr. Selfi said.

dr. Selfi also advised all participants to make the most of this event because there is a lot of knowledge and benefits to be gained. He also hopes that through this CIMSA activity a young generation of Indonesians will be formed who are intelligent, intelligent, and can have a good impact on Indonesia and the world.

"Let's use it besides networking to make friends and also learn. What's more, tomorrow you will have material to be delivered from the Ministry of Health, doctor Kartini from the Ministry of Health, it's amazing that tomorrow you will receive very interesting and fresh material, which you can use as study material and also as trainers. Because actually this event was also held as an event to become an education trainer, so it must be utilized as well as possible. This is one of the materials to prepare all of you as intelligent, intelligent young Indonesians who will be able to change Indonesia to change the world," dr. Selfi explained.

Director of Health for Productive Age and Elderly, Directorate General of Public Health, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, drg. Kartini Rustandi, M.Kes, who was the main speaker at the workshop, also really appreciated the series of activities organized by CIMSA.

“On this occasion, I would like to give my appreciation to CIMSA. What I appreciate, first of all, CIMSA, which was announced earlier, is more than 22 years old. Likewise with the various activities carried out by CIMSA, this time I was personally invited to attend the national Pear Education Workshop. One thing that is interesting in my opinion, especially what is being discussed is reproductive health," drg. Kartini said in her speech.

In addition, drg. Kartini also appreciated the theme taken in the workshop held by CIMSA FK UNS. According to him, counselors related to reproductive health issues and HIV/AIDS are an interesting thing.

“Pear education is important. Why? Because more people will know and will be greatly helped when they are given information by others. I am very proud of the 70 delegates from Sabang to Merauke because you are the younger siblings who will replace these seniors. For this reason, the opportunity to get training, the opportunity to discuss, was conveyed by dr. Selfi, one day we will meet again," she said.

After the opening on the first day, the event continued with training, expert lectures, poster competition presentations on the second day. Then on the third day, participants were invited to apply the knowledge they had gained in the second day's session to contribute directly to providing education to the community and providing free blood pressure and GCU checks in the RW.02 Ngoresan area, Jebres, Surakarta.
