The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) again inaugurated 129 new students for the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS). These new students are the result of the Universitas Sebelas Maret New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) for the 2022/2023 academic year and had fulfilled the requirements and had re-registered.

The inauguration ceremony was held offline at the Auditorium of FK UNS, Monday (16/1/2023). The event was also attended by UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K)., Deputy Deans at UNS FK, Head of UNS New Student Admissions Selection Unit (SPMB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiwiyono, M.Sc., Head of UNS Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, Drs. Rohman Agus Pratomo and the Heads of the PPDS Study Program (Kaprodi) at FK UNS.

Head of UPT SPMB UNS, Prof. Hadiwiyono, said that the PPDS Maba who were appointed were the result of a series of selection processes whose registration began in September 2022 and had been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. The number of Maba PPDS who passed stage two and registered 129 students.

“The selection process is divided into two stages. Phase I selection is carried out by conducting online exams with TPA material and English Language Proficiency or by uploading BAPPENAS TPA certificates and TOEFL ITP/IELTS certificates. In phase II, the exams were carried out offline which included study program interview tests, scientific field tests, psychological tests, portfolios, physical health tests (MCU), and interview tests by university and hospital leaders," Prof. Hadiwiyono said.

UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Yunus said that in the first stage of the exam, the number of registrants was 334. Of these, 316 were declared to have passed the first stage and were entitled to take the second stage or in the range of 94.61%. Then based on the results of the second stage of the examination, there were 129 prospective students from 15 Study Programs who had passed the selection.

“Over the years, the number of prospective student applicants at UNS has increased. Of course the competition is getting tougher. We received a report from the UPT SPMB that the number received by PPDS Period II of 2022/2023 was 129 out of 334 applicants. This is certainly something to be grateful for, for applicants who are accepted. You are selected superior applicants and can be accepted as freshmen at PPDS UNS, top and superior tertiary institutions in Indonesia. For this reason, to the prospective PPDS students period II 2022/2023, I congratulate you and may Allah grant you smooth and successful studies," Prof. Yunus explained.

After being inaugurated, the inauguration ceremony was closed with the submission of the list of names of Maba PPDS from the Rector of UNS who was represented by the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of UNS, Prof. Yunus to the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono.

These PPDS New Students will later undergo Pre-Educational activities at the Faculty of Medicine and at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital Surakarta (RSDM) before starting his education period, most of which will be served at RSDM.
