The Indonesian Asthma Foundation (YAI) held an asthma exercise together at the yard of the Medical Education Building, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Sunday (4/12/2022).

This activity was attended by 300 participants from 23 Asthma Clubs from various regions within Central Java. Present at this exercise activity was the Elected Chairman of the YAI Surakarta City Branch, FX Hadi Rudyatmo. In his remarks he said that activities like this are very useful.

“This activity is very useful, especially for people with asthma because this exercise moves all the organs of the body and trains breathing. I personally also thank you for the trust given to me to become Chairperson of the Surakarta Branch of YAI and I will try to work as best I can," he said.

Head of the Pulmonology Section of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Yusup Subagio Sutanto, dr., Sp.P(K)., FISR., FAPSR hopes that having YAI branches spread across various regions in Indonesia can bring benefits to asthma sufferers.

"Of course we hope that the existence of the Indonesian Asthma Foundation will be a boon for those with asthma or those who are interested in taking part in asthma exercises. We already have 23 branches spread around the Surakarta area and all of them are active branches," said Prof. Joseph.

He hopes that there will be more and more YAI branches in Indonesia so that they can reach people in various regions and can bring benefits to the community with various activities and health counselling held.

One of the gymnastic participants from Salatiga, Retno, said she was very enthusiastic about participating in an activity like this.

“I left Salatiga at 4 am, very happy to be able to take part in an event like this to meet so many fellow people with asthma. Hopefully events like this can be held frequently in the regions so that they can bring benefits to us," Retno said.
