The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) received a visit from the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Andalas (UNAND) on Friday (18/11/2022). This visit was the first step for Unand to open a Psychiatry Study Program.

The Dean of FK UNAND, Dr. Afriwardi, dr., S.H., Ap.KO., MA, accompanied by the Head of the PPDS 1 Psychiatry FK UNAND Forming Team, Taufik Ashal, dr., Sp.K.J and Secretary of the PPDS 1 Psychiatry FK UNAND Forming Team, Eldi Sauma, dr., Sp. K.J, was welcomed directly by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), along with the leadership and staffs of the Psychiatry Study Program of FK UNS in Meeting Room 1, Soetjipto Building.

On this occasion Dr. Afriwardi said that the need for specialist doctors, especially in the field of psychiatry in West Sumatra Province was very high while the number of psychiatric specialists available was not sufficient, so FK UNAND took the initiative to open a Psychiatry study program. The visit to FK UNS was an attempt by FK UNAND to obtain more information about the process of establishing the Psychiatry Study Program.

"Our purpose in visiting here is none other than to see directly the Psychiatry Study Program FK UNS and try to find the information we need to establish a psychiatry study program," Dr. Afriwardi said.

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono, welcomed this visit and hoped that there would be many benefits from their visit to FK UNS.

"Thank you for visiting here, I hope you get a lot of benefits as expected. We are ready to provide the information needed, later we will be assisted by the psychiatry study program," prof. Reviono said.

According to Prof. Reviono, at this time the opportunity to open health-related study programs was wide open to address the shortage of health workers who are still lacking, so this opportunity must be utilized as well as possible.

After discussing with the Head of Psychiatry Study Program FK UNS, the group headed to Dr. Moewardi and the Regional Mental Hospital dr. Arif Zainudin to see directly the facilities and infrastructure as well as the learning activities that were taking place there.
