UNS Rector and Members of RKPU Visits FK UNS Experimental Animal Laboratory

Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum, and members of the University Leadership Coordination Meeting (RKPU) on Friday (4/11/2022) visited the Experimental Animal Laboratory (LHC) owned by the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNS. This activity was marked by cutting jasmine flower arrangements in the 3rd floor lobby, Building F, FK UNS.

The laboratory which was inaugurated in April this year is expected to make it easier for lecturers or students who want to do research using experimental animal media. Previously, many lecturers or students had to go to Yogyakarta, Surabaya or Bogor to use experimental animal laboratory facilities.

Prof. Jamal on this occasion explained that the LHC development was non-state budget and purely from the Institutional Development Donations (SPI) of FK UNS.

"On this occasion we visited the Medical Animal Laboratory which was actually inaugurated on April 1, 2022, but we only had the opportunity to see it directly today," he said.

"I really hope that the Faculty of Medicine can utilize, optimize, use this laboratory, especially services for students but also related to research and publications, but also does not rule out the possibility of this laboratory being used for the public," he concluded.

drh. Khesara Sastrin Prasita Negara, M.Sc. as the Head of the Experimental Animal Sub Laboratory of FK UNS in his presentation in front of the Chancellor and members of the RKPU explaining the facilities owned by LHC FK UNS.

"This laboratory serves the entire academic community and other relevant agencies in the form of consultation on in vivo testing, provision of experimental animals, and provision of laboratory animal cages as well as other activities related to the maintenance and treatment of experimental animals such as sonde, blood collection, organ harvesting, and body fluid collection," she explained.

After listening to the presentation, the Rector and RKPU members headed to the research unit room to see the activities of students who were treating experimental animals.

At this time there were several students from outside UNS conducting research using experimental animals at the LHC FK UNS. It was hoped that in the future more students or lecturers will conduct research in this laboratory.
