As One Form of Community Service, PPDS Radiology FK UNS Holds Community Service Tour ‘Solo Radiology Update 2022’

Higher education is a place that plays a role in building a nation's civilization, especially for the next generation through education. Talking about higher education certainly cannot be separated from the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which consists of Education, Research and Community Service. These three become important points in realizing the vision of the university.

As a manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) of the Radiology Study Program (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Sunday (30/10/2022) held a Community Service Cycling activity ‘Solo Radiology Update 2022’ which was a collaboration between the Radiology Installation of RSUD Dr. Moewardi with the Radiology Study Program, FK UNS.

This activity begins with cycling together starting from the Regional General Hospital Dr. Moewardi headed to the front of the Financial Services Authority Building on Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Surakarta, which was attended by residents and staff of the Radiology Study Program, FK UNS. The activity continued with free health checks for passersby.

This activity, which coincided with the Solo Car Free Day Program, received high enthusiasm from the community. In addition to providing free medical check-ups, a talk show was also held about the importance of regular health check-ups to find out health conditions and treat diseases early.

In this talk show, Dr. Widiastuti, dr., Sp.Rad (K) from RSUD Dr. Moewardi explained that there are still many people who ignore routine health checks, so when there are complaints about their health, they are usually severe.

“Many of our people are still ignorant about routine health checks, even though according to a study as many as 40% of diseases can be detected by health checks, especially through examinations through radiology. If we can detect existing diseases early, treatment can be given more quickly and the percentage of cure is certainly higher,” dr. Widiastuti explained.

One of the lecturers of FK UNS, dr. Muchtar Hanafi, M.Sc, who participated in this activity, hoped that by providing health education in public spaces like this, it could raise public awareness about the importance of health checks.

"I hope that with community service activities like this, people will become more aware of various diseases that can be detected by radiology and that will certainly improve the level of public health," he said.
