The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) again held an Inauguration and Doctor Oath Taking event on Wednesday (19/10/2022). This Doctor's Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath Taking was the 221st period held by the Faculty of Medicine UNS since its establishment in 1976. A total of 15 participants attended this event consisting of 2 male participants and 13 female participants.

Participants in this activity are those who have passed the Medical Profession Program Student Competency Examination (UKMPPD) which was held in August 2022. The UKMPPD was attended by 18 participants with a total of 15 participants (84%) while the first taker passing rate was 14 people (100%).

This activity was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus. He represented the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho who was unable to attend the occasion. Prof. Yunus conveyed the mandate from the Rector of UNS to proudly release the fifteen new doctors.

"Allow me to release these 15 new doctors with pride and prayer that the new doctors can carry out their mission of service and humanity successfully and always maintain and carry the good name of the FK UNS alma mater," he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr. Sp.P(K) conveyed tips to become a successful doctor in front of 15 new doctors. He also expressed his gratitude to the parents who have trusted UNS to educate their children.

“You have to be professional, competent and responsible. Second, there must be a lot of networking and friendship. Third, integrity is honesty and discipline. I also thank the parents who have entrusted their children to FK UNS. Now I return it to their respective parents. They have completed their education well,” Prof. Reviono said.

Deputy Director for Regional General Hospital Services, Dr. Moewardi Surakarta, Dr. Heri Dwi Purnomo, dr., Sp.An(K), on this occasion hopes that new doctors will not only feel enough with their doctoral degrees but have aspirations to be able to study as specialist doctors.

“In order to be able to provide good service to the community, you all have to enter the level of a specialist. UNS alumni should not be complacent just to be a general practitioner,” dr. Harry said.

It was further conveyed that Dr. Moewardi Hospital is open and will provide opportunities for FK UNS alumni who want to take the specialist level.

"We open opportunities as wide as we can because we want all of you to become qualified doctors and we as the Main Teaching Hospital will provide facilities, we will help you all to achieve the required competencies," he continued.

Secretary General of the Alumni Family (KA) Faculty of Medicine UNS, dr. Dewi Purnamaningsih P.S, who also attended this event, advised the new doctor that taking the doctor's oath signifies that the struggle and dedication as a doctor has just begun.

“The role of universities in Indonesia has undergone fundamental changes, globalization and changes in its main perspective in the realm of the pandemic era have greatly impacted medical education. The context focuses on increasing the role of doctors in line with the IT-based sustainable development agenda,” dr. Dewi said.

Representative of the New Doctor, dr. Arif Nurhadi Atmoko in his speech expressed his gratitude for the knowledge gained during his education at the Faculty of Medicine, UNS.

“I would like to thank our teachers, our professors and senior doctors who have guided and educated us at Dr. Hospital. Moewardi, at the UNS Hospital, as well as at the network hospitals and health centers where we are studying,” he said.

According to him, with the knowledge they have gained, they can help other people who want to consult on health problems so that they become useful individuals even though they are still in a small scope.

"I hope that our beloved campus, Universitas Sebelas Maret will be more successful, more great and more successful both at the national and international levels and hopefully the Faculty of Medicine UNS can continue to be a prestigious Faculty of Medicine in the country, and is always in demand by people who aspire to dream of becoming a doctor," he concluded.

At the Inauguration and Taking the Doctor's Oath this time, there were 7 participants with the Cumlaude predicate and the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) was achieved by Zahrazulfa Duta Amidreza with a GPA of 3.82. With the inauguration of the 221st period doctors today, since the establishment in 1976 the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret, has graduated 6,838 (Six thousand eight hundred and thirty eight) doctors, who have spread throughout the country and have devoted their knowledge to various institutions. both in the field of health services, education, research, as well as government doctors, private, TNI / POLRI and others.
