Welcoming the Visit of SMA IT Al Kahfi Bogor, KPS of S1 Medicine Explains the Importance of Academic and Non-Academic Skills
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Thursday (29/9/2022) received a visit from the Al Kahfi Integrated Islamic High School (IT) Bogor. As many as 80 students wanted to see the lecture activities at FK UNS as well as to see the existing facilities and infrastructure.
The Head of the S1 Medical Study Program (KPS) FK UNS, Dr. Eti Poncorini P, dr., M.Kes, in her speech said that if you become a medical student, besides honing your academic potential, your non-academic potential is also honed.
"So later the younger siblings here, apart from exploring their academic potential, their non-academic potential will also be explored, because this non-academic potential is also important for students to develop optimally," said dr. Eti.
According to her, in addition to academic ability, the attitude of a doctor must also be formed from an early age so that one day he can become a good doctor in terms of knowledge and good attitude.
"Because according to the law a doctor must be virtuous, dignified, qualified, competent, cultured to help, ethical, highly dedicated, professional, patient safety oriented, responsible, moral, humanistic in accordance with the needs of the community," she explained.
"So we do not only educate students to excel academically but also provide provisions on ethics and professionalism so that after graduation students can become doctors who are truly of good academic quality and attitude," continued dr. Eti.
In addition to listening to a presentation about the profile of the UNS Medical Faculty and an overview of the learning process in the Medicine Study Program, IT Al Kahfi High School students were invited to interact in a question and answer session and visit the skills lab and biomedical laboratory.
One of the IT Al Kahfi High School students, Nadia, said that this activity was very exciting and fun.
“This visit to FK UNS was a new experience for me and my friends, it was very exciting and it turned out that after hearing the presentation, the lecture in medicine that previously looked scary turned out to be fun. Hopefully I and other friends who have the desire to be able to enter FK UNS later,” she said.
