FK UNS As a Guiding Faculty Visits State University of Malang (UM) in Preparations for Opening of Medical Study Program FK UM
The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) as one of the best medical faculties in Indonesia and has had a lot of experience in carrying out education for medical students was trusted by the State University of Malang (UM) as a companion faculty in the process of establishing the Faculty of Medicine at the State University Poor.
One form of assistance carried out by FK UNS is to send a team of 17 people to the city of Malang on Wednesday (28/9/2022) to see firsthand the readiness of the State University of Malang both in terms of administration and infrastructure.
On this occasion, the Chancellor of the State University of Malang, Prof. Dr. AH. Rofi'uddin M.Pd, expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by FK UNS.
“Of course I would like to thank Prof. Reviono and the team who are willing to be our coaches, become our companions. Hopefully today everything can be resolved what are the shortcomings of our preparations," he said.
He further conveyed that the preparation process for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine had been carried out since before the pandemic, but when the pandemic hit, all processes were hampered so that they could only be continued when the pandemic began to subside.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), in his speech said that the establishment of the Medical Study Program is not as easy as other study programs. There are many things such as lecturer qualifications and facilities and infrastructure that need to be prepared in detail and thoroughly.
"According to data from the Ministry of Health, currently Indonesia still lacks doctors, but establishing medical education is not as easy as other study programs. For example, the number of lecturers that must be prepared is at least 26 with strict qualifications. Then the facilities are also not the same as other study programs, for example we have to prepare a lot of tutorial rooms where each room can accommodate 12 students and then we have to prepare a skillslab room with complete equipment, which of course really requires a very large budget, "explained Prof. Reviono.
"In addition to requiring a large budget, a lot of rooms and a large building, another requirement that is not easy is the existence of a hospital that is willing to become a vehicle for education for students," he continued.
However, according to him, all the requirements that are not easy should not dampen the existing spirit, but instead become a challenge that must be solved properly.
In addition to meeting with the leadership at State University of Malang, the team from FK UNS also met with the Director of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Kanjuruhan Malang to listen to a presentation about the profile of RSUD Kanjuruhan Malang which is planned to be used as the Main Teaching Hospital for the Faculty of Medicine, State University of Malang.
After listening to the presentation, the team went around to see the readiness of the infrastructure and facilities that would be used as a place of education. Many inputs were given by the team from FK UNS regarding the readiness so that the process of establishing the Faculty of Medicine, State University of Malang could later run well.
