FK UNS Welcomes Benchmarking Visit from Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB)

The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) on Friday (16/09/2022) received an official visit from the Institute Development Agency (BPI) of the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) in the context of benchmarking.

The BPI IPB team, which consisted of 14 people, was led by the Head of BPI IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, M.S. and was greeted directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) and the ranks of the vice dean and the curriculum development team of the Faculty of Medicine UNS.

On this occasion, Prof. Yonny Koesmaryono said that since 2006 BPI had actually had the idea of establishing a Faculty of Medicine, but it was not yet hampered by various problems. According to him, this visit to FK UNS was one of BPI IPB's efforts to get more information about the process of establishing the Faculty of Medicine.

"Our presence here is as a benchmark, we have heard a lot about the UNS Faculty of Medicine which in quotation marks has become the locomotive of progress at UNS," he said.

"Hopefully we can get lessons, get information about what and how UNS develops the Faculty of Medicine and how far has it progressed, especially regarding preparing lecturers because one of our obstacles to preparing our medical faculty is the lecturers," he continued.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UNS, Prof. Reviono welcomed IPB's plan to establish a Faculty of Medicine, but according to him, to be able to run a good Faculty of Medicine requires a lot of responsibility.

“Actually, the management of this medical faculty is different from other faculties, because the requirements are different from other faculties, such as requiring a hospital as well as different forms of learning from other faculties. Now things like that quality control is quite difficult, quality assurance is not easy," prof. Reviono said.

In addition to exchanging information and asking questions about the process of establishing the Study Program and Faculty of Medicine, the BPI IPB team was also given the opportunity to see firsthand the ongoing educational process at the Faculty of Medicine. See how the student tutorial process is and visit educational facilities in the Faculty of Medicine such as the Skills Lab, Computer Laboratory and Anatomy Laboratory.
