Thematic KKN FK UNS 2022: Stunting Counselling for Youth Organizations in Dukuh Watesari, Sruni Village, Musuk District
In the context of national stunting prevention, undergraduate students of the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) class of 2019 held stunting counselling to the Youth Organization of Dukuh Watesari, Sruni Village, Kec. Musuk. This activity was part of the 2022 FK UNS Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN) with the theme "Accelerating Stunting Prevention in Sragen and Boyolali Regencies".
Information about stunting was provided by the Seruni Village KKN Group to both young women and young people as prospective brides. Future cooperation between husband and wife in terms of raising children is important for alleviating stunting in the future.
The material presented to youth by FK UNS students, Natan Anthony and Raihan Alif Zahran, was not only about stunting, but also about other social and health issues that were also deemed important to discuss such as drugs, the dangers of smoking, promiscuity, and reproductive health. Training on the use of blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid measuring devices was also given to youth organizations so that youth organizations could work together with sub-districts and health centres in realizing the RT-level Posyandu which would be held in Sruni Village. Meanwhile, for young women, materials on anaemia apart from stunting were also given by Intanisya Cahya Kirana and Jessica Setiabudi. In addition to counselling, the UNS FK KKN team also held games as a means to familiarize young people as well as between the team and the youth organizations. This event was enthusiastically welcomed by 40 youths and 38 women from the Youth Organization of Dukuh Watesari, Sruni Village.
This counselling on stunting and health issues was expected to provide information for young men and women as husband and wife candidates on what can be done to maintain family health, especially in terms of stunting prevention. The ability to use blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid measuring devices owned by youth youth is also expected to assist village midwives in running the RT Posyandu and help increase early screening for non-communicable diseases in Sruni Village.
