A university is required to carry out 3 important things, namely education, research and community service or what is often called the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. In addition to being obliged to carry out the Tri Dharma, Higher Education is given full authority to manage it independently. A Community Service Program or Real Work Lecture (KKN) is one form of implementation of higher education services carried out by students with a cross-scientific and sectoral approach at certain times and regions in Indonesia.

The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) on Thursday (14/7/2022) at the FK UNS Auditorium released students who would carry out thematic KKN activities in 2 regencies: Boyolali Regency and Sragen Regency. The 129 students would be divided into 13 groups which would be spread across 13 villages in the 2 districts.

In this activity, material on Culture, Courtesy and Student Communication was delivered by R. Prihandjojo Andri Putranto, dr., M.Sc, an FK UNS lecturer. In his presentation, he conveyed about the importance of good manners and good communication when students enter the community in KKN activities. This was considered very important so that what is brought by the students in terms of science could be well received by the community, and as well as to maintain the good name of the alma mater of the Faculty of Medicine UNS.

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) when delivering his speech said that KKN activities are a form of learning that must be lived by every student.

“For this KKN activity, it is included in the learning process to gain competence so that later all of you will become a doctor. There are 7 competency areas that you must understand, namely the first is noble professionalism, the second is self-awareness and self-development, the third is effective communication, the fourth is information management, the fifth is the basis of scientific knowledge, the sixth is clinical skills and the last is management. Health problems," Prof. Reviono explained.

Prof. Reviono added that the students have only mastered the area of clinical skills, so that in this KKN activity, it was hoped that other areas of competence that have not yet developed can become more developed.
