Community Service by RG Community Applied Midwifery Study Program FK UNS


 

In fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, lecturers of the Midwifery Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) who are members of the Community Applied Midwifery Research Group (RG) carried out community service activities at the Ngorod State Elementary School, Jebres District, Surakarta City. This activity was carried out by providing education in the form of socializing the Covid-19 vaccination and educating visualized songs (Lavila) to 63 students aged 6-12 years.

Health education provided to students regarding Covid-19 was carried out by collaborating with lecture methods, discussions and singing the visualization song (Lavila) educational song. This activity lasted for 120 minutes and was attended by all students. To create a fun discussion, the students were given visualized song education by modifying children's songs with lyrics about covid-19 so that it was easily accepted by students. In imitating and singing, it was seen that the students were very enthusiastic and happy, it was shown by the students singing along and moving according to the example of the service team.

According to the Head of Group Research, Angesti Nugraheni, S.ST., M.Kes, the purpose of this community service was to increase students' knowledge, awareness and willingness to vaccinate against Covid-19 with the hope that students can implement health protocols so that they could reduce the transmission rate of COVID-19.

Besides the head of the research group, several members of the research group who are also lecturers at the UNS Medical Faculty were also present, including Ika Sumiyarsi Sukamto, S.SiT., M.Kes. Niken Bayu Argaheni, S.ST., M.Keb. Noviyanti Rahardji Putri, S.SiT., M.Tr.Keb and Iffah Indri Kusmawati, S.ST., M.Keb.

This activity was routinely carried out every year and this year it took the theme of vaccination and health protocols because it coincided with the children's vaccination program and face-to-face learning in elementary schools.

The results of health education carried out in this community service activity was an increase in students' knowledge about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine and health protocols.
