FK UNS Hosts the National Examination of the Indonesian Collegium of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) on June 24-26, 2022, hosted the National Examination for the Indonesian Collegium of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine held by the Indonesian Collegium of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine. The national exam was aimed to create pulmonary and respiratory doctors whose competence was nationally standardized in carrying out their duties.
This time, 52 participants from various Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Study Programs participated in the implementation of the national exam, where the participants had to meet various requirements to take this national exam.
The requirements that had to be met by these participants were that they had completed all the stations, had completed their final project (thesis), and were declared eligible to take the national exam by the institution where the participants are studying.
This national exam was held for three (3) consecutive days by presenting the examiners of the national exam. They were teaching staff from educational institutions that provided education for pulmonary and respiratory specialists who had qualifications as examiners. The qualifications for national examiners were teaching staff who already had a consultant degree and had participated in an internship at the previous national exam.
The first day of this national exam was the implementation of the Computer Based Test (CBT). In the implementation of this exam, the participants work on the questions that had been prepared by the examiners through an application on the computer.
On the second day, the participants were faced with an Observation Systematic Case Evaluation (OSCE) exam covering the topics of infection, oncology, pulmonary function, intervention, physiological bronchoscopy, and pathological bronchoscopy. The OSCE exam is carried out using objects such as spirometers, bronchoscopes, and mannequins, which can be animals such as goats or people. The examiner only fills out the checklist that has been provided and is not allowed to communicate (explain or correct) the participants taking the exam.
On the third day of the exam, the participants underwent an oral exam by being given a written case as material, then followed by a question and answer session by the examiner. This oral exam consists of three parts, namely the topics of infection and immunology, oncology and respiratory distress, as well as asthma/COPD and occupational lung disease.
The participants of this national exam will be declared passed if they can get a score on the three types of exams (Written Exam, OSCE Exam, Oral Exam) above the Passing Limit (NBL) score of 70. In this national exam, there were 41 participants who successfully passed. Participants who have not passed the national exam will be given the opportunity to repeat the exam in their respective regions.
