Accreditation is a mandatory requirement from the government to universities, as regulated by Law No. 20 Year 2003 concerning the National Education System Article 61. Accreditation is an effort by the government to guarantee the quality of an educational institution by an independent institution. The accreditation figure is proof that educational and teaching activities are in accordance with quality assurance standards.

The results of the accreditation will classify the study program or college into a grade of C, B, or A. This value is an important asset in determining the quality position of the university or study program. In addition, the value of accreditation can be a benchmark for the feasibility of the graduates produced.

Prior to the accreditation assessment, the campus needs to fill out the form provided by the Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT) or Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Pendidikan Tinggi Kesehatan Indonesia (LAM-PTKes) in charge of providing the assessment. Filling out this form is intended to find out the real picture of the state and performance of the university. The assessment will refer to several standards of accreditation instruments for BAN-PT or LAM-PTKes.

Administration in the form of documents and archives is the key in applying for accreditation. This serves as a means of proof during the evaluation and assessment process.

Accreditation will reflect a college or study program. The presentation of data and information on the accreditation form will later determine the assessor in giving the score. In order to avoid mistakes in filling out the accreditation form, a competent work team for compiling the accreditation form is required. The purpose of being competent here is that each member of the work team must have at least three aspects, namely knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS): A visit or visitation of assessors from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Indonesian Health Higher Education (Lam-PTKes) in the Accreditation of Medical Study Programs at the Faculty of Medicine UNS starting from 23 to 25 November 2021. The assessors are: Prof. Dr. dr. Dedi Afandi, D.F.M., Sp.F.M.(K); dr.Wawaimuli Arozal, M.Biomed, Pharm D; and Dr.dr. Bagus Komang Satriyasa, M. Repro.

The first visit began with a meeting of LAM-PTKes Assessors with the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M. Hum. along with the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), at the UNS Rectorate Building. Next, the assessors visited Dr. Hospital. Moerwardi (RSDM), Griya Bahagia PMI, Purwodiningratan Health Center, UNS Hospital, Tour to UNS Medical Faculty Laboratory, Confirmation of meeting at UNS Medical Faculty Auditorium, and finally Closing.
