FK UNS Becomes the First Host for Routine Blood Donation Event and Screening for Covid-19 Survivors at UNS


 

Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) Surakarta held a blood donor and screening for Covid-19 survivors’ event at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, Wednesday (8/9/2021). On this occasion, the Faculty of Medicine of UNS collaborated with the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), the Alumni Family of the Faculty of Medicine (KA FK) and Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) Surakarta Branch.

"This activity is the first event of a series of blood donations event that will be carried out every month, on the 11th day, to commemorate March 11th (the anniversary of UNS) and will be carried out by every faculty in UNS," the Head of the UNS DWP, Budhi Widjayanti Jamal Wiwoho, S.E. said.


In his remarks, the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) said that this blood donation activity is not an uncommon activity for UNS especially the Faculty of Medicine because blood donation can be done by any faculty. This blood donation activity has national values, such as caring, solidarity, tolerance, religious values and human values.

While the Vice Rector for Academic and Students Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S. in his speech hoped that this blood donation event could later be integrated with the KSR (Voluntary Corps) of UNS Students so that they could support the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) program because it is a humanitarian activity.

The blood donation activity and screening of Covid-19 survivors, which was attended by Faculty Leaders within UNS, was also visited by the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, after visitation on the Face-to-Face Lectures (PTM) at the Faculty of Medicine activity. Gibran hoped that this kind of activity can be carried out regularly but must pay attention to the health protocols.
