UNS Employee Morning Ceremony: The Dean of FK UNS Highlights the Importance of Strengthening National Values

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) as one of the universities with the policy of Independent Learning, Merdeka Campus and as a campus with the concept of the UNS as a Pancasila Fort Campus has a duty to play a role in shaping the nation's character in students.

“We cannot abandon these two concepts in carrying out the learning process at our beloved UNS campus. Efforts to strengthen the character of the Indonesian nation for students can be done in various ways, one of which is the Merdeka Learning Campus program. We can instill national values that come from the four pillars of Indonesian nationality, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhineka Tunggal Ika in every situation and condition. UNS as the Pancasila Fort campus must always be at the forefront in building student character in accordance with national values,” the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) explained in the morning ceremony which was attended by all UNS employees, Monday 6 September 2021 via online.

Furthermore, it was said that the UNS academic community must be able to play an active role in providing solutions to the nation's problems. For example, in facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Indonesian must be able to implement national values such as the values of caring, solidarity, mutual cooperation and tolerance. The UNS academic community can apply these values in the form of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, for example, helping Covid patients who are self-isolating, taking an active role in vaccination, participating in blood donation activities and actively participating in socializing the prevention of transmission.

Another example in applying national values is facing influences from abroad, the dynamics that occur in other countries regarding the development of an ideology, if it was not carefully understood might cause bad impact to Indonesia. With the rapid flow of information that is difficult to contain without a good filter, it will have an impact on other UNS students or academics. UNS academic community could instill national values such as love for the homeland, awareness in the Indonesian nation and state and believe in each other that Pancasila is the most suitable ideology for Indonesia.

The morning ceremony for employees is routinely held by UNS every Monday and the person in charge takes turns taking turns in the 16 Work Units at UNS. On this occasion, the Faculty of Medicine was fully responsible for its implementation.
