Profession Lectures during the Covid-19 Pandemic (Online)
"The most effective prevention is avoidance"
When the Covid-19 pandemic infected Indonesia (lockdown on March 2020), the learning system at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret (FK UNS) had implemented a distance learning system via the internet network or online. This distance learning method is still used today. This online method is used to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus among students, teaching staff (lecturers), and education staff. The government has conducted socialization to the public about the dangers of the Covid-19 virus and its spread. Socialization at UNS especially among students about the dangers of the Covid-19 virus and its spread was carried out by professional lecturers to their students.
Quoted in a young doctor profession online lecture (23/3/2020) with the speaker was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P (K), the endless Covid-19 pandemic has caused our daily behavior to change. This Corona virus attacks the respiratory tract. One of the most effective prevention is avoidance. Avoiding a virus is not easy, because the virus is invisible and the virus has a variety of locations, such as: in metals, in the hands, and most often is in a person's respiratory tract. So, the government prohibits people from congregating or gathering and maintaining social distancing. For college students or students, the priority is learning from home. The problem now is that when studying for a Young Doctor (DM) profession. This lectures include skills lectures, internships programs and also competitions that must be mastered by students, in which those activities should not only be done online but also offline. For this reason, the Dean of FK UNS tried to take advantage of the available time (during the Covid-19 pandemic) so that medical professional students (DM) did an internship (hands-on) directly to patients, although technically they could not do joint apprenticeships but took turns once a week as many as a maximum of 5 (five) young doctors. Young doctors are required to wear masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent transmission. Professional students (DM) after interning at the hospital and returning home or boarding, are expected to go home immediately, not stop by or hang around everywhere, so that studying at home is disciplined, with the hope that they will not be infected.
