"Nutrition during pregnancy"

The seminar organized by the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Association in Surakarta (POGI) had been held for the umpteenth time. One of the events was held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 started at 09.00 (Western Indonesian Time) by the Obstetrics and Gynecology of Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (Obsgyn FK UNS), Regional General Hospital Dr. Moewardi (RSDM), and POGI Surakarta. This event was attended by 1626 peers through the Zoom applications and Youtube.

The aim of this seminar was that POGI Surakarta could provide an up-to-date knowledge about Obstetrics and Gynecology (Gynecology is a medical science that focuses on studying female reproductive organs, while Obstetrics is medical science that specifically studies pregnancy and childbirth) and could provide suggestion to all colleagues.

During pregnancy, nutrition is very important for the prevention of maternal death or death of pregnant women which is the death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth or within 42 days after the end of pregnancy. Preventing maternal deaths does not only occur in hospitals or health centers but also can be done by preventing them early. In accordance with the direction of POGI and the Ministry of Health, early prevention of maternal deaths could be done by improving nutrition and decreasing diseases in pregnant women so that during childbirth it would not cause the maternal death, which often happened in hospitals. In addition, with good nutrition for pregnant women it is expected to prevent diabetes, preeclampsia (namely a condition of increased blood pressure accompanied by the presence of protein in the urine, this condition occurs after gestational age more than 20 weeks) and other diseases.

This webinar was intended to be useful for Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists (Obstetrics and Gynecology) or SpOG, as well as midwives and other colleagues, so that they could increase their knowledge.
